Hey all- anyone have a good source (meaning good quality low price) of .45 ACP bullets?

For FMJ's I go with Precision Delta. Since many of the plated bullet manufacturers jacked their prices up, I can't justify the extremely meager savings from plated to FMJ. The downside with Precision Delta is that their 230gr bullets are around $115/1000, and their minimum order is 2000. But on the upside, they are beyond accurate. www.joshua-davis.com/ The Free State Project "If somebody says there ought to be a law there probably ought not." - Penn Jillette |

+1 I've had good luck with Berry's. Matter of fact I just ordered some 9mm & 45acp bullets this morning. They said ship date in 3-4 days. |

I was very pleased with the Berry's bullets I got (plated) in 9mm and 45.
I also just tried (and posted about) Dardas Cast Bullets which are much less expensive. About 7 cents per bullet vs. 11 cents or so. Both makers loaded fine and shot every well, especially the cast bullets. ________________________ "It takes so little to be above average, it's amazing more people aren't...." - my father |

You did not say whether you are looking for cast, plated or jacketed bullets. My first choice is Precision Delta as I load only FMJ these days. I have shot Berry's plated bullets when they were more cost effective but since their price hike it has been PD for me. Others may guide you in the direction of good sources for cast bullets.

PD is by far the cheapest for jacketed. http://www.precisiondelta.com/products_new.htm
Rose Dist sells Zero. http://www.rozedist.com/mm5/me...egory_Code=ZBJ-45ACP Plated are getting to be the same cost, but Berry's is an option too. http://www.berrysmfg.com/produ...1&c=17&pp=8&sb=0&p=0 IF YOU AREN'T HANDLOADING, YOU AREN'T SHOOTING ENOUGH! |

Those bullets are $20 more expensive than jacketed PD's or Zeros... insane... I thought plated was *cheaper*? www.joshua-davis.com/ The Free State Project "If somebody says there ought to be a law there probably ought not." - Penn Jillette |

I like Precision Delta for fmj and Dardas for cast in .45 acp.
Recently I too have noticed a very small $ difference from cast to plated to jacketed. I recently bought some Berry's to try in the .45 acp and .38 super but have had no chance to shoot either. I am still waiting for Zero jhp from Roze's - 2+ months now. I have been VERY happy with Berry's in the wife's p6 and in .40 for my 229. |

Yeah, Berry's raised their prices again. I won't buy them at that price when I can get jacketed for less. IF YOU AREN'T HANDLOADING, YOU AREN'T SHOOTING ENOUGH! |

Absolutely!! I have purchased a LOT of bullets from Berry's, but I just stopped! When I can purchase FMJ for LESS than plated, that is what I am going to do. What are they thinking with that kind of move? |

WOW, most of these sites have a 2-4-6 week wait for bullets!
And one ships within a day, Montana Gold. Cost more but no wait. Hmmm... time is money... Kevin, USN (Ret) P220R ST P220R EQ P226R ST 9mm S&W 686 6" 357 |

I saw the price hike at Berry's too. I have ordered from both Berry's and Precision Delta, and both have been great. At first I was reluctant to order 2K minimum from PD but I do it all the time now. Their prices on 45ACP are a good $20 cheaper than Berry's, and you get excellent quality FMJ bullets. I order from them pretty much exclusively now.
Order ahead of your need and the delay in shipping is no big deal. You're going to load them eventually, and they don't go bad, so 2K or more is the way to go. Berry's quality is great, but why pay more for plated when FMJ is cheaper and also great quality? I just picked up some X-treme plated 230 gr RN from Ammo Brothers in the L.A. area for just under $60 (mil discount) for 500 units. The box says Carson City NV, not Oregon as noted above.
Quick checked 10 bullets and all with in 229.6-230.8 gr range. Loading some up this week for my first batch. This batch will get me going and I'll order from PD when I'm ready for 2k rounds and a three week wait as noted in a email from them yesterday. Got a friend who waited almost 12 weeks for 230 RN units. We'll see... Kevin, USN (Ret) P220R ST P220R EQ P226R ST 9mm S&W 686 6" 357 |

I have been using the Zero jhp for a couple of years now and like them very much. "Not very bright but he does lack ambition" |
