I have never had a case split during reloading—they split/crack when fired.
.357 Sig? Anneal the case neck. Other than that, you just have to accept that without annealing, 4-5 firings is pretty good for a bottleneck case.
.357 Mag? This cartridge and .38 Special are the ONLY rounds I have ever loaded that will almost always have 1-2% of the cases split, whether it is the second or unknown number of firings for the particular case.
You could have deprimed and reused the primers...
