I got another off-line question about www.smartcarry.com and decided to share my $.02 with everyone:

It works for me. CCW holsters are a balance between concealment, comfort, and accessibility, and my first priority is concealment. One rare occasions I toss my 642 in a pocket, but most of the time I Smart Carry a G-26 or 642. Photos:

Future CCW guns include the LCP and 9mm PPS, and they'll fit just fine in my medium (holster, not hip size) Smart Carry. You buy the size holster for the largest gun you plan to carry.

Comfort is not an issue on long trips; I just drove east (2500 miles) with my 642 and almost forgot it was there. BTW, I'm covered under HR218.

Pros:

No cover garment, shirt can be tucked in or out

Wear under shorts, long pants, or sweats. Even business casual.

One size holster fits almost all

No one looks there

Superior concealment

Slot for spare mag/speed strip

Cons:

May not support a heavy gun

Potential slower draw

Reluctance to keep a gun there

Need to buy pants one size larger

Other members may have additional pros and cons.

It's not the perfect holster, it’s not for everyone, but Smart Carry works for me.

Smart Carry works great for me when I need or want deep concealment. Definitely not fast, but I wouldn't go to WDW with my typical OWB carry.

I only wish he'd wrap the strap in some sort of softer material. That elastic can really eat you up after a while.

I have a friend that uses the Smart Carry. When I made a comment about where the gun as located, he politely informed me that is not an issue. Apparently the muzzle is supposed to sit lower than any body parts.

I'm going to be starting a new career soon in which I will be wearing scrubs, and need another method of carry. I've come down either the Smart Carry or a Belly Band.

I use my SmartCarry as an IWB.

The butt of my pistols sit above the beltline--w/ a draw time of .5 seconds, I refuse to now waste money on a nice IWB in leather.

The SC is my ideal, comfortable IWB.

Good post, Sigmund.

I also like SmartCarry. It's particularly good with stretch waist pants and no belt.

Another happy customer.

I bought mine to use every once in a while and use it more than my VMII. It is especially nice around "huggers" who might feel an IWB pistol.

I find it works best with a shirt out over your pants, the butt of the pistol is the only thing that prints a little on me, so having that area covered by a shirt works.

I have had my Smartcarry for about two months and use it a lot. My 239 and one 8-round mag fit very nicely into it. The longest I have worn it is about 8 hrs. with very little discomfort. Occasionally have to do a little "shuffling" when I sit down on a hard chair or bench to get certain body parts settled right. Usually that means I was wearing the holster a little too low to begin with. Getting better at wearing it properly with more practice.

I thought I was the only one on here that doesn't like the IWB holsters. I love my smartcarry. It was given to me by my Uncle and love it. I was worried about getting in and out of a car, but have no problems. Like everyone else said you forget it is even there.

Uh.....I have a question. What about when you have to make a trip to the boys room? ya know, in a public bathroom with not much privacy. Isnt it a problem then?

how do you get around that?

The first gun that I carried regulary was a J-frame and I often carried it in Thunderwear. I stopped because I realized that I had no access to the gun when seated in a vehicle. I also found out that I could carry a much larger pistol if I used a quality holster and belt.

I was only carrying a Khar P9 in mine, and the grip was actually right at the belt line. It was a little tight in there, but it wasn't impossible to move the SmartCarry over just a bit. Not easy, but possible.

Option #2 - use a stall.

Mine sits half-way, but that's me! Wink

I used to worry about that same thing, but after wearing it I feel very comfortable with it. I highly recommend it if deep concealment is what you want.

I have a Smartcarry and it has been an indespensable tool.
While I rarely use it, it does come in handy for those occassions where I need to tuck my shirt in for a formal event, or when I need to breech security patdown/wandings.(where legal)

You can position it anywhere you like...experiment a bit.

+1 on this method AND the way you are supposed to use it. My pistol is stubby, so I keep in the front "appendix" style at or above the belt, but I've heard of some moving it to 4 o'clock.

Just made contact with Charlie at SmartCarry, and he was a real jerk to me.

Thunderwear for me from now on!

Without a doubt, for me this was the most uncomfortable carry method (painful) I've ever tried- once . I'd offer the holster as a karma, but I don't want bad things to happen to me! Frown
