Hey guys. I recently changed wallets and left my CCW in the old wallet at home. I am in another city in my home state for a week.
I feel naked without my Sig now. Should i carry? I hope i never leave home without my card again. ______________________________ When they come for your guns and ammo, give them the ammo first How is is that I can legally buy a grenade launcher but not a Swiss semiauto rifle? |

I would have to say NO. You won't do that again. Unless someone is back at home and can next day air it to you.

790.06 License to carry concealed weapon or firearm.-- excerpt.
So it may be a fine, or a great big hassle. hth Wings without Hooters is just chicken. ✡ |

I would say it depends on the law where you are. For example, in Texas, not having your license on you while carrying is not legally that big of a deal, but if you were claiming an out of state permit and a cop had no way to verify, you might have a long night.

I am a LEO here in FL and my short answer is simply this "NO". Under no circumstances should you have a concealed weapon on your person without your permit. I have no tolerance for this whatsoever, nor do I care to hear the stories and excuses that come with it. Just go the week feeling naked and take it with you next time.
The $25 fine is not the only penalty that can be imposed, it is at the officers discretion as to how to handle on a case by case basis. I will say that if you are an upstanding individual I most likely will tell you to stow the weapon and issue a warning depending on how "YOU" present yourself. Hope this helps. Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; They will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 |

Are you driving? I assume your drivers license is also in your wallet. I would think the risk is similar, but I'm not a cop.

Why? Do you believe the right to self-defense is contingent on having a state-issued piece of cardboard in your wallet? Have it and someone can possess the means to protect himself; don't have it and he can't? (I'm not, BTW, talking about the process of being issued a permit in the first place. That's another matter. In this case the permit has been issued. It also assumes that—as in Colorado—there's some way for law enforcement to confirm that a valid permit has been issued besides possession of the card.) ----------------------------------- “The right of self defence is the first law of nature.” — St. George Tucker, 1803. “Self-defence is Nature’s eldest law.” — John Dryden, Absalom and Achitophel, I, 1682. [T]he subjects of England are entitled ... to the right of having and using arms for self-preservation and defence. — Blackstone’s Commentaries on the Laws of England Book the First - Chapter the First: Of the Absolute Rights of Individuals “Most men … can seldom accept the simplest and most obvious truth if it … would oblige them to admit the falsity of conclusions … which they have woven, thread by thread, into the fabrics of their lives.” — Leo Tolstoy |

GPD, UPD, or ACSO??? ---------------------------------------------------- Now you will receive us. We do not ask for your poor, or your hungry. We do not want your tired and sick. It is your corrupt we claim. It is your evil that will be sought by us. With every breath we shall hunt them down. Each day, we will spill their blood till it rains down from the skies. Do not kill, do not rape, do not steal, these are principles that every man of every faith can embrace. These are not polite suggestions, these are codes of behavior and those of you that ignore them will pay the dearest cost. There are varying degrees of evil, we urge you lesser forms of filth not to push the bounds and cross over, into true corruption, into our domain. For if you do, one day you will look behind you and you will see we three. And on that day, you will reap it. And we will send you to whatever god you wish. |

Check the CCW regulations in the issuing state and the state where you are now. The answer sits there, not here (the Forum). A few phone calls, or, if you are lucky enough, they are posted on the official web site.

Just make do without it.

I have no problem at all with someone protecting themselves. I don't think the issue here is the right to self defense. I have no idea what line of work you are in but I personally like to go home each night to my family and for what it is worth, that little card that gives folks the right to carry a concealed weapon at least gives me some small assurance that they have been checked out to some degree. I don't have time to be checking out whether or not someone has or does not have a permit to carry. If they don't have it with them, to me it is the same as not having one. I will say that most of the time it is not an issue and only under certain circumstances (probable cause or reasonable suspicion) would I ever pat that person down and discover the weapon. I guess the what I was referring to when I said I have no tolerance for that; and should have been more clear, is that if I find a weapon on your person and you don't have your permit, I don't want to hear the excuses as to where it is or what happened to it. So the law says:
And the lawman says:
Please enlighten us on how your discretion goes above and beyond the limits of the law. |

I would be happy to "enlighten" you. My discretion in interpreting the law is exactly for "mouths" like you. You are a prime example of why I can use discretion on a case by case basis. Most folks are easy going and give no problems whatsoever and 99.9% of the time I would simply give a warning and say "have a good day", but it is the .01% like you who piss me off with your trap and push the issue, at which time I can find any amount of probable cause to search you and your vehicle.
I must say that I usually never get in to pissing contests on message boards, as a matter of fact this is the first time that I can think of, but I guess there is one in every crowd. Well, I'm out. Signing off...Take care. Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; They will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 |
