Gages sent to the winners.
The karma offering is closed, but don't be afraid to read the rest. Winners announced on page 4. This is actually a discreet karma offering for the people who care enough about the little details pertaining to using firearms for defensive purposes to open and read this thread. Even premium ammunition can be defective when it leaves the factory. It’s important, therefore, to inspect every round before loading it into your weapon and relying upon it for serious purposes. A useful tool for assisting in the inspection process is a case gage of the kind sold by Dillon Precision here. The Dillon gages are sized so that ammunition they accept will fit into a minimum-sized firearm chamber. Sizing isn’t the only thing you should check when inspecting ammunition, but it’s an important factor and defects may not be obvious by eye. Cases that are not sized properly won’t fit into the gage. This depicts a fired case in the gage, but loaded rounds may not fit either. A case that gages like this may still fit into a larger chamber, but this is an indication that you should check it and perhaps not rely upon it for defensive purposes. A cartridge that fits a clean chamber may not fit when it’s dirty. Another thing to be alert to is that the cartridge may drop into the gage freely, but the case head may still project above the surface of the gage. I once encountered some 9mm Blazer aluminum whose cases were too long. They chambered okay, but the slide wouldn’t go into battery. The karma is for a Dillon case gage in 9mm Parabellum/Luger, 40 Smith and Wesson, or 45 ACP. To be eligible to win a gage (just one) post a reply here and ensure that either your profile or your post contains a valid e-mail address where I can contact you. Specify in your post which one gage you would like to have (9mm, 40, 45). Entries will be accepted until 1800 hours (6:00 P.M.) Mountain Standard The only other requirement is that you resolve to use the gage to check your ammunition before relying upon it for defensive purposes. Thanks Sigfreund please add me to your karma offer for 40 S&W. I learned something today with your post.

You must choose 9mm, 40, or 45; Dillon offers the gage in 380 and other calibers, but I have only the three listed above to send out myself. I am unworthy.
However, an anonymous package containing a gauge for either 9mm or .40s&w would not go unnoticed... *************************************** What type of cheese would you like with your whine? |

In re-reading my original post I realize that I may not have made everything clear.
I have three gages, one each in 9mm, 40, and 45. There will be three drawings, one for each caliber. If you mentioned more than one caliber in your post, I will sign you up just for whichever one you mentioned first; e.g., "I'm interested in 9mm and 45" will get you in the 9mm drawing. If you would rather have a gage for a cartridge besides the first one you mentioned in your post, please make another post listing just the one you'd like to have most. Since we don't have too many entries yet, you can also go back and edit your original post to pare it down to one caliber gage. Sorry for any confusion about this. “Most men … can seldom accept the simplest and most obvious truth if it … would oblige them to admit the falsity of conclusions … which they have woven, thread by thread, into the fabrics of their lives.” — Leo Tolstoy |
