You kinda did that a little backwards there. You should have the belt width you like and then order the holster with the clips to match. What size clips did you get? I would get a belt to match the clips unless you want to order new clips to match. The clip size and the belt should match at 1.5" or 1.75", that keeps your holster stable. For the record, I like 1.5". Stable but still small enough to wear with khakis for work and such. You got a good start with the MTAC tho'. I have two.

fau, gibby29 is correct. You got the horse before the cart. Most, but not all, holsters of that type will come with 1 1/2" belt loops. You should then order a 1 1/2" belt to match the color of the clips. We sell, by far, more 1 1/2" gun belts that 1 1/4" or 1 3/4". When you get the two to match you will have a nice rig. Congrats & good luck..

You also have to consider your intended dress. 1.25" belts are made to look like dress belts, to be worn with dress slacks or a suit. 1.5" belts are your typical "casual" belt, to be worn with khakis, Dockers-style casual slacks, cargo pants, jeans, etc. 1.75" are made more for jeans or work pants, and most other belt loops will have trouble accomodating a belt that wide. I'd personally got with 1.5". Not only are most standard holsters made for a 1.5" belt, it's also the belt that's made to be worn with the most types of pants. But if you'll be wearing a suit or dress pants all day, you should probably consider the 1.25", or one of the various styles of tapered belts that are 1.25" in the front, but 1.5" around the sides and back.

In addition to a belt width that matches the holster attachment points, a belt that is solidly made will significantly increase the comfort level when carrying. Lighter-weight belts frequently need to be tightened to an uncomfortable degree to support the weight of a holstered handgun. A sturdy belt can be worn at a "snug" level without sagging or drooping from the weight of the handgun. Best regards.

I like 1.5" if you wear a suit 1.25" is probably better. Some belts are 1.5"with a taper to 1.25"in the front to provide a formal look with a jacket on,yet also provide the extra stability of the wider belt.

1.5" belts provide plenty of stability and fit pretty much any pants making that size the prefect belt for CCW. I have them in all colors, but black in my favorite. I'm a big fan or The Belt Man, but Mitch Rosen, TT Gunleather and R. Grizzle Gunleather make great stuff too. MODIECAST SIGS - Yes, I have a few...
