I can't wait for this game! Mine is preordered and I will be there at midnight to pick it up. Smile

The modern warfare series is as close as you can get to my ideal game. Love it in every way.

Does anyone else care about the single player games in this series or do people only get this one for the multiplayer? I figured, since I haven't done any COD games yet, that I'd do the single player game through first to get used to the COD-specific controls.

I'd be happy with maps the size of the COD: World at War maps.

There are a few that are bigger than the CoD 4 maps. It is hard to gauge, the player base thus far has been mostly developers, researchers and military advisers. With that said it is hard to gauge how a huge player base will change the dynamic of the maps once they learn them. Maps that seem like run and gun maps may develop into sit and snipe maps and vice versa. So with that, the best I can answer your question is there are maps that are plenty big to snipe on. When you look at the map layouts look for size cues like cars, trees, shipping containers. That will help you to determine the relative size of the maps.

Personally, I love the campaign mode. The stories are usually pretty good. The story line for MW2 does not disappoint. Playing single player first is going to help you learn control layouts, but it is going to end there, multiplayer has a learning cliff, not a learning curve. Wink

There is also a co-op mode called "Special Forces". It is like the terrorist hunt in Rainbow Six or the co-op assault mode in Ghost Recon. So you and your friends can eliminate bad guys together. It is a pretty cool mode.

The single player campaign is incredible. The storyline is very similar to a Tom Clancy plot. The gameplay and levels are some of the best I've ever seen in a single player game. I played COD4's campaign probably around 10 times because I liked it so much and unlike some games the single player mode is extremely difficult in the hardest mode.

Ahhh! Well, this all sounds good about the single player then. I'm looking forward to giving it a try.
Co-op sounds similar to my favorite multiplayer mode in Uncharted 2, where you can team up with two other players to go against the bad guys together. Deathmatch mode is too darn hard in U-2 for the casual players, IMO. In U-2, co-op lets you party up with two people on your friends list or else it will randomly find two other players for you to team up with. That'd be great to have that feature in MW2.

Am lukewarm to this. I stopped playing MW on the PC, and although I like WaW, I am getting tired of it being a run and gun/twitch game. The maps are too small, and there is no strategy.

Those are all multiplayer maps? 15 seems like more than the last CoD games (I'm not complaining by any means). Kegger, is the single player story line still the british SAS and Marine Forece Recon? Wasn't sure if they switched the services at all. Thanks for all the early info, I can't wait for Tuesday!! Big Grin

Soap will return in this version along with the SAS, but no more Marines. This time it is the US Army Rangers & Delta Force taking the field.

Yes I have, most PC gamers I know personally will not be getting it. For some reason IW thought that PC gamers would value prestiging and paying for maps over dedicated servers and mods. Who could have seen this coming? Roll Eyes

Well if you go ahead and pick up MW2 you won't be behind any curve for a LONG time.

Hah! They stole the nuke from the Ace mod. That is a pretty good mod that we've been playing again to knock the cobwebs off and get ready for this one.

Anybody know who has this the cheapest? Any good pre-order deals out there? I think it's going to retail for $60 for PC which just sucks in my opinion.
