Of the basement once he's finished them. This may be the last great mystery of NCIS. I haven't a clue! Anyone care to solve this one?

It cracks me up they turned the magnifying glass right at this huge plot hole. I can imagine someone getting a tour of the set asking "so hows Gibbs going to get the boat out of his basement" and the nervous looks start shooting around.

He's built 3 or 4, right?

And burned at least one--presumably in the basement?

Maybe they never leave (in one piece).
Maybe it's a standing inside joke.

I would say that something like this would be the only way he could get it out, but the other special agents have been in there and looked around for seams in his basement walls and it's a mystery to them. I'm sure it's something different than that, but what?

He'll never finish the boat. Started it with his first wife, as a 'look what we'll do' kind of thing. Building it helps is the pain of that loss, which still eats at the man.

He isn't building the boat to take it out and put it on the water, its all about the process of building the boat.

Your not very up to speed on the show. He's built 4 of them and the last one, called "Kelly" was featured in last weeks episode. He'd gifted it to his God daughters (Mike Franks grandchildren) and it was the key piece of evidence in a crime scene. The basement is now empty with no mention if he's going to build another. Time will tell.

Is this place completely devoid of Zen?

It isn't the sailing of the boat, it is the building that is the purpose.

Oh, of course it is! But, it's still a mystery that would be nice to solve!

That's what I was going to say. They never show what's on the OTHER side of the basement.

I don't think that he gets the boats out of the basement. I believe that he builds them then tears them apart after their finished; a never endind process. The boats that Gibbs built then supposedly came out of the basement were possibly never built there. The show does not indicate this. They could have been built some other place besides the basement.

They get out first the camera, dolly lights out of the way, get the prop folks to get the finished prop boat out and place a new unfinished prop boat in.

Anybody here ever see "Must Love Dogs"? IIRC John Cusack builds strip-built boats and kayaks.

If you are married or have an SO and have seen as many romantic comedies as I have, you'll note that women seem attracted to men who are artisans, not professionals or geeks.
