Hell or High Water
Just saw a commercial for this. It looks like it might be ok but I hear a tiny voice saying it will be really stupid. It does kind of look like a cheap formula movie looking to cash in with the 'No Country for Old Men' fans. But it also seems to have a few good actors on board.

So, who knows? Maybe it won't suck.

Well so far the marks are quite high. Didn't realize so many critics got to see it that early.

I don't think I've ever seen anything with Ben Foster in it I didn't like.

In the commercial, he asks "Do you know who I am?" I can't help it, I want to shout back "Yeah, you're the Dude!"

This currently has 62 reviews on Rottentomatoes, and everyone is positive. 100% can't last, but I don't remember any flick that started out 62 for 62.
Must be something to it.

Yeah, lots of positive reviews.

I know movies often will have powerful bad guys, but I am initially turned off by the "our bank is evil" (because they want the money we promised to pay them) conflict this one seems to set up. I'll probably get past it if it's a good as most people are saying, though.

Indeed. Ben Foster is one of those actors I always appreciate. He really falls into his roles.

Most recently I saw him in The Program. Really excellent.

Watched it this weekend.
Pretty good.
Worth going to.
We were going to see Jason Bourne but went here instead.
Glad we did.

That would be 1954's Hell and High Water.

There are stars; Bridges, Pine, Foster..., but what stood out to me was the supporting cast scenes. The two waitresses were priceless.

I really liked this film. Same writer as Sicario. It's a very picturesque slow-burn of a crime story. Bleak, but not quite THAT bleak. I dug much of that lonely rural cinematography. Good performances all around, but I still don't like that Chris Pine guy. I can't seem to warm to him. Jeff Bridges could play crusty old lawmen in his sleep, so he's awesome as usual.

I'm just pleased that it seems that the shaky-cam trend seems to be slowly dying off. Perhaps it's too '00s. I've noticed more and more filmmakers eschewing it for good ol' Steadicams, tripods, and dollies. Hooray!

I thought it was funny that I just read Stephen King's 1993 released short story collection: Nightmares & Dreamscapes, and the first story is Dolan's Cadillac, which came to mind when the first one was buried.

I liked this film. Jeff Bridges KILLS it again - amazing actor.

The Bernie Sanders big banks are evil vibe killed what could have been a great movie, unfortunately. The shithead director/writer/whoever couldn't help themselves, inserting "evil banks" quotes several times throughout the movie. Since when is it terrible for a bank to try and reclaim funds from a legitimate debt? If you are a drunk, broke ass deadbeat, it's not the banks fault that you are a scumbag loser.

I give it 8/10. Lose the communist/socialist mantra and the film gets a 9.5/10.
