Once again, if you haven't finished the book yet, there will be SPOILERS here. You have been warned.
So I finished reading it last night. Overall, I was pleased with the book. I had great fears that it would not feel like a Wheel of Time book, but there were only a few small things that felt out of place to me. It was mostly the dialogue that felt a little strange. In particular the interaction between Mat and Talmanes. But then again it may just be me. My biggest complaint, well more of a disappointment, was that Mat, Thom, and Noal didn't make it to the Tower of Ghenjei in this book. All I can say is that the next book better come out right quick I'm still trying to decide what the most satisfying moment was for me, but I definitely couldn't hide a smile while Tam Al'Thor stared down Cadsuane despite being thoroughly at her mercy. Wasn't it Clint Eastwood in In The Line of Fire that said, "A good glare can be just as effective as a gun"? “You can have peace. Or you can have freedom. Don't ever count on having both at once.” - Robert Heinlein |

Good grief. I feel like I have to pick up the previous 6 or so, just to get back into the series.
When did this book come out? I thought it wasn't due out until November. I'd love to see this story arc end and and have some other author pick up and give us a really good Lews series. Or Artur Hawkwing storyline. "There is no human being of any race who, if he finds a guide, cannot attain to virtue." |

Why another author? Do you not like Brandon Sanderson? |

They pushed up the release date so it came out last Tuesday. What I'd really like to see is the finishing of the prequel novels. When Robert Jordan wrote A New Spring he intended it to be the first of three novels covering Moiraine and Lan's story prior to arriving at the two rivers. He had said that he was very disappointed at the reception of ANS and would probably finish the other two after the series concluded <sniff>
I think an Artur Hawkwing storyline would be a good read. I'd be interested to see the origins of the Seanchan empire. “You can have peace. Or you can have freedom. Don't ever count on having both at once.” - Robert Heinlein |

I thought it was good and moved the story along well. The next book is supposed to be Mat oriented and should see the "rescue" or Moiriane. I too look forward to the Tower of Ghenjei. Finally, I am anxious to see what the Seanchan do in the next book.

No, I should have clarified. Another author besides Robert Jordan, who is unable to do this thing which I want. "There is no human being of any race who, if he finds a guide, cannot attain to virtue." |

Finally finished the book yesterday. I have to say I was happy with it. I hope they are able to stay on schedule and finish the series in the next 2 years. As long as it's done before the world ends in 2012, I'll be satisfied.
