I currently like more Taylor Swift songs than I ever liked Kayne West, for a total of 5 songs, and I anticipate liking more TS songs.

TS may be cray-cray, but she's not a self important piece of human waste.

I do feel sympathy for her emotionally crippled teenage and pre-teen fans, but she can sure make a hit.

I think she is probably fairly self-important, as well. I like a few of her songs but I probably like more Kanye songs.

How'd you ever hear enough of her songs often enough to even know?

It's teen/tween/young adult pop. 99.9% of that never even hits my radar, on purpose.

Like whatever you want, of course, I'm just curious how it ever came to be.

I like a wide variety of music.

I play They Might Be Giants and the soundtrack to Marry Poppins at work.

A few songs by Taylor Swift is no stretch.

Earlier this year, my niece played me a batch of songs from her computer, snippets of Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, and Justin Timberlake. Maybe about 15-20 different songs.

I love all genres of music; punk, college rock, new wave, early American folk, 50s jazz, classical, swing, Philly Soul, Motown, etc. But the songs she played could have been from a single album for all I know, it all blended together, the sameness was the most prominent aspect. Beats, production, especially timbre, all the same across the board.

But what do I know, I pretty much mostly stick to classical music and be bop jazz nowadays.

Modern pop is more heavily produced, and regulated, than almost any other time. Though, that kind of control, isn't new, it's basically been going on since the beginning of radio.

I could be wrong, but I feel like the 80's and 90's had a lot more independent bands in wide release.

There is a lot of mass produced shit out there. A song or two are going to be good.

I can appreciate catchy pop drivel aimed at the kids and have no problem admitting that I don't mind Taylor Swift. My wife thinks it's hilarious.

She is pretty damn self-important, but she can't hold a candle to Kanye West.

Well, she may be a bit cray-cray to date, but she sure seems good at business and knows how not to alienate her fans (or their parents).

Me too...i have probably 5 or 6 TS songs on my phone

I have teenage and pre teen kids, but honestly that's not where I hear TS songs...it's my wife and my business (the radio station that is constantly playing)

The first album my teenager downloaded when I told him he could wasnthe Beatles....second was Fleetwood Mac, third was the soundtrack to Hamilton...he is his father's son

my nieces like some of that stuff (the are all mid 20's now)

we also share similar tastes,

this mornings drive consisted of new order, tull, Hendrix, and some good 60's jazz,
but I am a chronic XM channel flipper

I'm an XM flipper too. I have never heard a TS song as I move on when her name appears. In the 60's we called this 'bubblegum' music.
