Terminator 2:

When the T-800 terminates the T-1000. The T-800 tells John that he cannot self terminate and that Sarah must lower him into the steel. John cries and orders the terminator not to go. The terminator looks at John, wipes his tear and says, "I know now why you cry but it's something I can never do."

The says goodbye and is lowered into the steel but still manages to give a thumbs up.

Oooo yeah that's good! I was pretty impressed with Guld Bowmen's death in Macross Plus as well.

EDIT - You know I read an interview with either Shinichiro Watanabe or Keiko Nobumoto not long ago that stated something like, "Vicious and Spike are both close to death. We've never confirmed the star going out is Spike's."

How 'bout the 58 Plymouth Fury at the end of Christine? Can that count as a death scene?
Also, anyone remember the song she was playing as she "died"?

That was a good death scene, but it wasn't the German they released who killed Mellish with the knife. It was someone else.

"Steamboat Willie" was there at the final battle at the bridge. He shot Cpt. Miller in the chest, and was later shot down when he tried to get chummy with Upham at the end of the battle.

Hmmm. This is a good'un. You guys already took a bunch.

One I'm throwing out there isn't exeactly a death scene per sce - but the ten-minute Death of a Super Hornet clip from Behind Enemy Lines (the SAM chase, followed by the uber-slow-mo eject sequence).

About the fifth time through that sequence I started busting up laughing, as I realized Burnett's exclaimation of "HOLY SHIT! JESUS H CHRIST!" right before he punches out is due to him looking out the right side of the canpoy and seeing THE REST OF HIS PLANE tumbling through the air minus a cockpit.

The deaths of the SEAL team was well done in The Rock, as well as the death of Hummell.

Titanic (I know, I know) when Leo D. freezes his ass off in the water so his girl can live.

Does Old Yeller count? What about the dog dying in I Am Legend?

+1

Seriously tough to watch, especially when Mellish realizes he is going to lose the struggle over the bayonet, and starts begging "No, no, no, wait". And then the German soldier keeps saying "Shh..." as Mellish gurgles out his dying breath...

Eek

This is the one I was going to mention.

There was a movie in the 70's called Three Days of the Condor, starring Robert Redford. In the opening scene, Redford goes out for lunch and the entire office of CIA people is wiped out. Max von Sydow walks into one office, brandishing his gun (Uzi, maybe) and comes across a young Asian lady (Tina Chen, I think). He says, "Would you move away from the window, please." She says, "I won't scream." He replies, "I know." Then, he kills her.

My fave death scene isn't so much about the death itself, but the emotion portrayed by Pacino in Godfather 3, when his daughter dies on the operahouse stairs. His silent scream is heartbreaking.

I didn't know anyone had actually seen that movie. Is it worth it for me to even bust it out of my DVD collection? I've watch the DVDs of 1 and 2 dozens of times, but 3? Haven't seen it yet.
