The final three deaths in Last of the Mohicans. Uncas fights Magua in terrified desperation, and is killed. Alice calmly steps off the cliff, rather than spend her life with Uncas's killer. Chingachgook chases down and kills Magua, seemingly filled not with rage or righteous fury, but sadness.

My favorite has to be Jean Reno's death in The Professional which is also Gary Oldman's death in the film.

+1! and I'd add:

1) Slim Pickens riding the H-bomb in Dr. Strangelove,
2) the Black Knight in Holy Grail,
3) Kane in the first Alien movie, and
4) Spock at the end of Wrath of Khan.

+1

Seriously tough to watch, especially when Mellish realizes he is going to lose the struggle over the bayonet, and starts begging "No, no, no, wait". And then the German soldier keeps saying "Shh..." as Mellish gurgles out his dying breath...

I'd have to say at the end of Tombstone, when Doc is in bed dying, and Wyatt is playing cards with him and basically the rest of that scene where Doc tells him to go live his life, find the girl, etc. Then shortly after that Doc passes on.

Maybe a little cheezy but on the movie Armageddon when Willis' character stays behind to set off the nuke and blow the thing up, just the whole conversation with the daughter.

****SPOILER ALERT****
For those people that have not seen "The Mist". Read at own risk.

This might not exactly fit into this post because I wouldn't call it the best death scene, but one that really disturbed me and made me think for quite some time. In the movie "The Mist" when Thomas Jane decides to shoot his son and the rest of his companions to save them from a gruesome death. I just couldn't stop thinking about that situation and how I would handle it. And what happened immediately after would make me go totally insane.

Not to sound like a pansy, but that scene got me too. It was so tough to see Fred, obviously dying, and wanting to help the team find a cure but not being able to. As well as Wesley, who was so completely in love with her, lying to her face that she is going to be alright, when he knows that she isnt. It gets me everytime that i see it.

Another one that gets me is Mellish at the end of Saving Private Ryan. when he is struggling with the german with the bayonet.

I keep going back to Joss Weadon. The Angel Series finale, when Wesley dies in Fred's arms
and the deamon taunts her, "Go ahead little girl, take your best shot." Fred lets go with a right cross and morphs into Illyria in mid swing and splits his melon...EFF'IN SWEET.

I think towards the end of Dog Soldiers when the character Spoon , just as he is about to die, looks at the werewolf and says: "I hope I give you the shits!"

Sorry to those people for the spoiler. I guess I am the only person in this thread that described the death scene in detail. Roll Eyes

Exactly the one I was going to mention.

Man that was a rough scene to watch. "Would you like me to lie to you know?"

Michael, I did nothing. I did absolutely nothing, and it was everything that I thought it could be.

Got to be the end of "Unforgiven" where Wil Muny avenges the death of his only friend Ned Logan.

"I'll see you in Hell Wil Muny!"

"Yeah."

I have wanted a Spencer rifle ever since.....

I agree with many. I can't pick just one.

Here's a few more.

Willem Defoe in Flight of the Intruder
Willem Defoe in Platoon
Richard Harris on The Wild Geese
Al Pacino in Scarface
Giovanni Ribisi in Saving Private Ryan

Don't sweat it - that movie came out HOW many months ago? If somebody had their heart set on seeing it, I'm would've assumed they would have already. . .

Nice spoiler on Harry Potter 6, btw. . . Wink

Ooooooohhh.... That is a GREAT one. I love how the last ten minutes has hardly any dialog at all; just that awesome music score. I like Alice's expression as she backs up and eyes the cliff, Mugua gives her this pleading 'I won't hurt you' look (yeah, right Wink), and she takes the plunge. Then, the old indian dude puts the whooping on Mugua, who never even gets a hit in.

Have to agree with that one!! I liked that part so much I purchased the soundtrack just to listen that particular music score to remind me of the scene.
