Miss those old commercials where they put the product to the test, ie Timex watches comes to mind with John Cameron Swayze. Putting the watch in a dishwasher or strapping it to an outboard motor. "Takes a lickin but keeps on tickin."

Hmm. Never realized that Breedlove and the Arfons were related.

Art Arfons' wiki page says nothing about being related to Breedlove. I think the wording in Breedloves' wiki page is misleading when it really is referring to Walt being Art Arfons' brother. The Arfons are from Ohio, Breedlove is a Californian.

Some of us older guys here might remember when Craig crashed in '64. Here's a link from Bangshift, there is about a ten minute video, some from the car footage including where he hit the telephone pole and the aftermath in the pond.

I was watching the night Swayze strapped one to the prop of an outboard motor, which was mounted on a tank of water. They lowered it into the tank, fired it up and ran it for about 15 seconds and when they pulled it up...no watch. Swayze recovered by saying, "Well folks. I guess you'll have to take our word for it. That Timex is at the bottom of the tank somewhere still ticking." Live television could be fun in those days.
