He served in the Navy from 1946-53. He was never in a war; not even Korea. History channel must be making some shit up about Carter and war.

Wiki

"Jimmy Carter, future President of the United States (1977–1981), served aboard Pomfret from 17 December 1948 to 1 February 1951 as his first shipboard assignment. During this period Pomfret deployed to the Western Pacific Ocean and conducted operations in the waters off Japan and the coast of China."

"Notably, future President of the United States Jimmy Carter served as an officer on K-1 [USS Barracuda] as part of its pre-commissioning crew and during its first year of active service until he was reassigned on 16 October 1952." (Eastern seaboard)

"Carter left active duty on October 9, 1953...to enable him to take over the family peanut business."

It sure seems like they are trying their damndest to make Ike look good.

He was the Wesley Clark of his day. He just got lucky once or twice.

Watched most of it. While it gave some interesting facts about how some of the future presidents served, it was a lot of hype and making things seems more dramatic than they may have been.

One other note: You'd think they would have the people who put this thing together know at least a little something about WW2. At one point they are talking about Ike getting Bomber Command to switch from bombing Germany to prepping for D-Day and they show a B52 dropping bombs over Vietnam. Roll Eyes
