I was really enjoying this show but for some reason we never really picked it back up for season 2. I have Hulu again and have been re-watching season one getting up to date for the following seasons. I noticed in the credits this is based on the Villanelle book series by Luke Jennings. Is this series worth the time to read?

We recently started watching this series and just finished season 2. I've heard that the books are good but lack the dark comedy aspect of the show, and the Villanelle character is not as fun but more serious.
