I remember watching as a little kid and enjoying the girls showing products. They were always hot.

I remember my cousin David, who was a few years older than me, commenting he'd kiss the bottom of one of the women. At the time I was quite puzzled by that comment.

I can't believe how good he was from the very first episode - no first time jitters or awkwardness. What a pro!

Two things were interesting for me. that the price is right with Bob Barker was a rehash of an old price is right.

And it looks like the voice announcer was also the same one all these years with Bob.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

I think he was a game show veteran. My mom (70yo now) was on Let's Make a Deal with him at one point, before TPIR

I think I have heard stories that he might have bumped heads with Bob if he attempted that.

Anyone remember the Mary Tyler Moore episode with Lou Grant reluctantly trying to persuade Ted Baxter not to quit and take a job as the emcee of a quiz show? " C'mon, Ted, do you really want people saying ' there goes Ted Baxter. He's a
quizzzzzmaster' " I think of that every time I see one of these shows.

He hosted Truth or Consequences for nearly 20 years before TPIR. Then a few other shows. Don't think he ever hosted Let's Make a Deal, though.

I noticed Barker didn't advise to have your pets spayed and neutered quite yet.

They used to regularly have products from a mail order house in Chicago called Speigel. Wonder what happened to Speigel.

My wife's grandmother won a bunch of stuff on Price is Right somewhere around 1980.
