Are these best read in order of publication or in chronological order?

Just started last week on Audible. I began with book 1, Waylander.

I read the series in order of publication.

One of my favorite series of all time, have read Legend numerous times over the years.

Enjoy the series, its a good one.

Also one of my favorite series. I started with Waylander first. It has one of my favorite lines (lots of great lines and dialogue through the whole series):

"Once I was a lamb, playing in a green field. Then the wolves came. Now I am a eagle, and I fly in a different universe.'
'And now you kill the lambs', whispered Dardalion.
Waylander chuckled and turned over.
'No, priest. No one pays for lambs”
