I saw an article that said the new show-runner acknowledged the slow pace of Season 1-2 and wanted to change that.

myrottietyWife and I just started season 1 and are about 9 episodes in I think. It's quite the interesting concept.

Snake207Better late than never.
Finished the whole series in about a month.
I have to say - damn good show! The production value for an Amazon series is amazing.
Now the long wait for season 4...

ryan81986I'm waiting for them to go Red Dawn on the Nazis and Japanese. I honestly think Smith will probably be the catalyst for the revolution. Obviously he's a significantly complex character and everything that's gone wrong in his life is severely testing his loyalty and pushing him back towards the American side.

Alternative history, alternative universes, aka multiverse, with leakage between.

I think that's one of the more interesting aspects of this show, what is being American. This show takes place where America never recovers from the Great Depression, FDR is assassinated, and iconic military leaders from WWII like Eisenhower, Nimitz, Patton, Bradley, MacArthur, Marshall are either killed or, never come to fruition; John Wayne dies in the Battle of Dayton.
1930's America was not in a good place, besides the Depression, there was the Dust Bowl Drought, the rise of social conflict with introduction of fascism and socialism, conflicts with organized labor and what remained of the industrial revolution, organized crime and it's aftermath, as a result of the depressed economy, was front page news daily. That America had it really tough, and for an invader, that's some ripe pickings, particularly if part of your offense was social 'solutions' like the Nazi's had. John Smith was an American solider before but, he's now has witnessed the destruction of the Statue of Liberty and the minimizing or, outright elimination of American history in it's texts, icons and landmarks not to mention the euthanasia of people because they don't meet an ideal concept, to include his son. More to come for sure...

Having the atom bomb and blowing up DC also helped a bit.
