This brought a smile to my face.

For those of you who remember the 1970s.

I vote that the broadcasting companies all bring back programming like "Hee-Haw" and the various variety shows of the '60-'70s and flush the reality TV things. Fond memories of watching like shows with the family back when....

Back in the early days of answering machines, we had a slightly different version of this as our message.

"Where, oh where are you tonight,
Why did you leave the phone all alone,
I searched through the phone book and
Thought I had found you,
But I dialed the number
and PHHTT you were gone."

It was quite common to find messages that were nothing but laughter. Big Grin

Classic.

Back when you could watch TV as a family and have everyone entertained.

When I was young, I confused Tennessee Ernie Ford with Tennessee Williams and I would watch Hee Haw and go tell my family, "Hey, the guy who wrote all those plays is on Hee-Haw!"

That is funny. I can just imagine Tennessee Williams and his personality on that show.

I forever associate Tennessee Ernie Ford with the song Sixteen Tons. It was not until I was older that I understood the meaning of the lyrics.

Lemmee try this out...

Well we made it through all of the dating drama
Then settled right down and I said "This is it!"
But then came a visit from your dear old sweet momma.
She took one look and said "He's full of shit."

I grew up a few miles from Junior Samples real used car lot in Cumming GA. As a teenager, we cruised back and forth past it Friday and Saturday nights. It was family time watching Hee Haw, Andy Griffith, and The Walton’s. Good memories. Was that Johnnie Bench in one of those?
