Apparently they stole the idea from "Ultimate Force", a BBC show from around 2002? About the SAS (complete with a female part of the unit, family drama, etc.). Four seasons on Amazon Prime. You're welcome. Big Grin

I've done my homework back in the day and watched the Brit show. It had all the ingredients to make it interesting including one of the SAS guys from Bravo Two Zero working as an advisor and one of the troopers.

That didn't last long. Past the second season the show starts to turn meh at best. Final episode was a blessing as far as I remember.

Anyways, it's worth watching.

It is cheesy. I've never watched The Unit, but I bet the makers of it have seen Ultimate Force. I do like that they do not muck about with taking prisoners (in fact, they do mag dumps to make sure the BGs are down LOL) but sometimes their tactics leave something to be desired. LOL

Season 3 wasn't available to me, not sure why.

It couldn't decide who was the main character; Henno or Jaimie? The total cast change after the second season was due to the network not committing to it until the last minute, at which point most of the actors had other gigs. Ultimate Force did handle the plot point of a unit commander having an affair with a trooper's wife much better than The Unit. Wink

The Third and Fourth Seasons really went down hill starting with a female making it through selection and being allowed into the regiment. I could see a female like Alex Reid's character in the first two seasons, being in SRS and supporting operations.

Ultimate Force", a BBC show

I liked "the Unit" up to all of the wives and personal shit. Too much drama and not enough action.
If that is the UF then not interested plus can't really stand much of Limey shows anyway.

Very little on the wives. In fact only wife shown is the one a commander has an affair with.

Only one wife and one female coworker to deal with in this one. And as jsbcody said, they dealt with the wife bit pretty decisively. Big Grin

I haven't been able to watch Season Three yet. I gather half the team gets whacked right off the bat.

I didn't even mind the wives' story lines as long as they made sense. The "jump the shark" moment for me was when Bob took his wife on a mission.

I am on Season 4 now, it really seems to have gone down hill, including the story lines, the acting, even the marksmanship.

I'm 4 minutes in and recognize Raymond Reddington's body guard, the Indian pretty boy from Covert Affairs, Apollo from the new BSG and a guy who plays every Irish bad guy ever. Ought to be interesting.

Watch for Rory Kinnear as a luckless bobby. LOL

My low point in Season 4 was the "running through the woods" scene where the trees behind them didn't move. LOL
