I never saw #2. That time I took this boards advice. “The issues of the world must be met and met squarely. The forces of evil do not distain preparation, they are always prepared and always preparing... The welfare of America, the cause of civilization will forever require the contribution, of some part of the life, of all our citizens, to the natural, the necessary, and the inevitable demand for the defense of the right and the truth.” -Calvin Coolidge |

Escape from Sobibor was very good, Ladyhawke was tolerably good, so was Blind Fury. Fatherland was worthwhile He didn't get much billing in Confessions of a Dangerous mind but he was in it You could consider Hauer as a 'star' of Sin City Always liked him. He's been in some real stinkers though. |

Why debate this, the answer is "Manos: Hands of Fate". For fucks sake it was so bad MST3K could hardly make fun of it. Just reading the story about how this movie came to be is enough to make you cry.

The answer is Plan 9 From Outer Space, but I can't believe no one even nominated Brokeback Mountain.

"Billy the Kid vs. Dracula"
actually not the worst, so bad it's funny. I really miss Mystery Science Theater, there's always new bad material to make fun of. |

I've written about this before, but it's been a while. You've got to be careful when you get into "worst movie ever" discussions or you may wander into "so bad it's actually kind of good" territory. A lot of stinkers have been brought up but some of them actually have some entertainment value that can be wrung out of them. The aforementioned "Manos, Hands of Fate", "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes," "Plan 9"...you can get together with a like-minded group of friends, get liquoured up and laugh at how spectacularly bad they are, do your own version of MST3K. Which actually makes them kind of good.
For a movie that is truly BAD, as in no entertainment value whatsoever, just makes you wish you didn't watch it...I always go for "Fantastic Four 2: Rise of the Silver Surfer." The acting ranged from mediocre to atrocious. The comedy was strained and not funny. The characterization was terrible, especially if you're a fan of the comics. It was just a horrific waste of potential. But, BUT...it was just competently enough made that you can't really laugh at it, or tear it a new one like you could those other movies. There's no real abomination here, no "WTF moment" to give you an unintended giggle. It just starts off mediocre and slides towards bad--slowly, gradually, just fast enough to make it unpleasant but not fast enough to make it fun. Bottom line: It never makes you shake your head with a smile over how bad it was. It just makes you shake your head with regret over the time and money you wasted on it. _______________________________________________________________________ "Self-help books to the contrary, modern marriage is built not on compromises but concessions. Worst movie ever? The Sweet Hereafter.
It made absolutely no sense. most confusing plot ever along with a hundred equally confusing side plots. The highlights: A 14 year old seeming normal girl that initiates a romantic and sexual relationship with her biological father. Really? Same girl is paralyzed in bus accident but she lies on the stand during the civil case about how fast the bus driver was going and thereby loses her award for her medical bills. looks at her father while she is doing it. her father had just previously ended the relationship and moves out of the house. Really? none of that stuff was on the back of the dvd cover BTW. ______________________________ When they come for your guns and ammo, give them the ammo first How is is that I can legally buy a grenade launcher but not a Swiss semiauto rifle? |

Yes, for just plain, actually bad - you are right. My choice for that is "Ishtar," though. You just can't watch it - it is that bad. ________________________________________________________ When you have to shoot, shoot, don't talk. |

Yes! Those are the movies that make you hate the fact it lured you into watching all of it. There are movies that I gave up after 30 minutes (Miracle at St. Anna and Burn After Reading) but the ones that keep your hopes up thinking it'll get better those are the "worst". Recently for me it was Waltz with Bashir. I couldn't stop watching that drivel and I felt completely empty afterwards. And I agree with Fantastic Four, both of them. Burned twice by those movies. __________________________ Self Defense is a Human Right James Madison: "Americans need never fear their government because of the advantage of (the States) being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation."
