One of the best episodes ever "Pine Barrens"

This was definitely my favorite. I just watched it again recently.

Best show ever.

I love the ending. It is just like life - you don't know what will happen or how things will turn out. I love the unresolved future.

Some think they can "prove" what happens in the diner, but you can't. There is no way to know, unambiguously, what took place. And that is another reason why the end was brilliant. Each viewer can see it how they like.

I watched The Sopranos off an on. Does it seem "dated" now? Try The Wire. Best TV drama ever, but alas, feels dated.

I've never seen it. How has it aged? Obviously it's still worth checking out, based on the posts here. Smile

He must be a young guy.LOL They used pay phones and landlines. Series like this are timeless. It is like saying The Godfather has aged.

Likely the greatest series of all time.
The thing I still wonder about till this very day. What happened to the freaking Russian? That was so set up for him to return and during the series often found myself wondering when he would show back up.

As for comparing it to Breaking Bad, not even close I thought BB was complete crap.

I like The Wire better, fwiw. I've watched it a couple of times through. But a lot of the things that are great about The Wire, the Sopranos has too. They share some common themes. Sopranos can't match character for character though, imo.

Breaking Bad, to me, is not even in the same conversation as these two.

Both The Wire and Sopranos are dated but the themes are eternal. I watched The Wire much later than it aired as well.

"Opinions vary" Smile

In my book, BB is pretty much on par with The Sopranos, with the writing in BB being superior, IMHO. The Wire was OK , but I only watched most of seasons 1-2. I might revisit the series later on.

It doesn't matter. It changes nothing, for me, knowing whether he is dead or not.

Supposedly the reason there is a blackout and he doesn't hear the bell ring when meadow comes in is because he gets shot from behind by the guy who went to the bathroom.

That guy came in with numbnuts, the son, and therefore didn't get as much scrutiny by Tony as some of the others did when they came in...

There was a conversion when Tony and Bobby were talking on the boat at the lake, where they discussed what happens when you die and bobby said everything goes black.

Quote

“At the end, you probably don’t hear anything, everything just goes black,” Bobby says while they sit fishing in a small boat on a lake.
