I saw her in Greensboro in November of 1985. She put on a helluva show. Probably the best concert I've ever been to.

And she's retired comfortably in Switzerland.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

One of my all time favorite performers. I have a lot of respect for her and her life story.

I have always liked her and thought she was one of the best. An amazing story to be sure.

You can find her performing with Rod Stewart to "Hot Legs", sometime in the 80's on YouTube. I remember watching that performance back then and all I could say was "wow".

I have to agree, her early stuff with Ike was great.

I really liked the Private Dancer album (still have it on vinyl somewhere around here) and her live version of Proud Mary is outstanding. I miss female vocalists who had her kind of presence and power.
