What are some of your favorite film scores?
This one takes me back to my childhood and the wonder of what is out there in the universe.

Just one of my favorites.

The Leone/Morricone team didn't suck. Morricone is conducting. (I use the theme from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly as my ring tone.)

The entire Gladiator soundtrack is great, and this is perfect as far as I'm concerned:

The Lord of the Rings scores.

Elmer Bernstein's swingin' score for Sweet Smell of Success. Love it!

Miles Davis' smoky jazz score in Louis Malle's Elevator to the Gallows. Recorded in a Paris recording studio in one session, in the middle of the night. Man oh man. So damn cool.

This last one- it would not be entirely correct to call this a musical score. In 1994, Richard Einhorn viewed Carl Theodor Dreyer's 1928 silent masterpiece The Passion of Joan of Arc and was inspired to compose a libretto as a musical score. Einhorn's composition and Dreyer's film create a synthesis to the degree that I cannot imagine viewing the film without this score. Just listen to the opening. Beautiful.

Ha! Awesome. "Greetings Starfighter. You have been recruited by the Star League to defend the Frontier against Xur and the Kodan Armada!"

Angela Morley's soundtrack to Watership Down always reminds me of my childhood.

Tangerine Dream's score to Risky Business will always remind me of my teen years!

I enthusiastically agree with many of the previous posts. The first thing that came to mind for me was

I post this every time the topic of movie music comes up. It still moves me as much as any performance ever has:

I like most all of these and have a lot of them in my Great Film Scores station on Pandora. I built it from scratch so it's mostly the instrumental music only (no lyrics), but there are a few James Bond songs mixed in and some classical. It often plays in the background in my office at work.

Here's a link if anyone's interested in giving it a try:

https://www.pandora.com/station/1366642882805476122

There's a list of songs used to create the station on the page when it comes up.
