I agree with Orguss about the ending.

The Continental was part of the fun of the film. By killing D'Antonio on property, John has broken the one true rule there; he is now among the hunted and can never go back. That rule appears to be pretty strict, I cannot imagine a believable scenario where he can be welcomed back without penalty...although I do not put it past writers to try and create it.

Overall I loved the movie, not as much as the first one, but very happy that it did not 'suck' Just disappointed by that specific part of the movie because a 'part 3' can really only be about everyone coming after him. We've seen that movie before...dozens of time.

Next time maybe specify in the title that you're talking about John Wick 2.

I opened this thread not knowing if it was the first one or the sequel.

I enjoyed it, but I think making the action "super sized" took away from the just-ever-so-slight plausibility of the first one. How many people did he freaking kill, 75 or more? VERY well choreographed shooting sequences, blood spatter/pattern experts had to be impressed. And I had no idea every other bum on a bench in NYC is a contract killer. Although most are apparently not so good.
As Ronin said, the only thing left is Wick v. all the orcs and goblins from Mordor. Well, he didn't say that exactly....
The only thing worse than being Wick is being his dog. And no, the dog didn't get killed.

Just saw it and loved it........now 2 possible points to consider if there is another chapter:

1. Was Winston putting fraudulent gold coins into circulation (scene just before Wick meets him where Winston is meeting with guy and complimenting him on the quality of his gold coins).....or is Winston actually in charge of the coins and the actual "king of the realm"?
2. Whose marker did Winston give to Wick????????

I think it was the marker that kicked off the film that Winston gave him.

Overall I liked it but I agree about aupersized action taking away a bit. Also there was a large sense of mystery that I liked about the first movie and it was all explained in this. It almost went too big. I do have to be sure I'm not overly critical though, the first one is up there in my top movies so I'm likely to be a harsh critic.

I think ultimately Wick will replace Winston, and finally get his "retirement".
There has to be a Part 3. 4?

In the other thread I mentioned that I didn't like some of Wick's decisions.

Wick is supposed to be this legendary hitman, and he demonstrates it in his skill at Gunfu. But my god he made decisions that would just insipid. In aviation there is a saying "Superior Airman, show superior decisions making skills to avoid situations where they have to show their superior flying skills."

In no particular order.

First he denies the marker, he knew full well that he had no choice. Second was trying to leave with his car without killing everyone. Third was just walking out of the Mafia queen's room, he is a well known hitman at the very least wear a fucking disguise. Fourth killing that dude in the hotel, he should know better. Finally a fucking shotgun instead of another AR, or a belt full of mags.

Don't get me wrong the movie was a good action flick, but they expect me to believe that Wick is this great hitman but he makes at least three major blunders in a short movie?

And then there was the setup for the third movie. Great more obvious turbo murder porn. How about instead he just disappears, or Swearengen kills him. But don't make it such an obvious "We are going to cash in on a third movie" ploy.

I really enjoyed it. I thought the gun play was awesome. I didn't like the way it ended.

To touch on what PPGMD said about Wick not killing anyone while retrieving his car, I would like to ask why he didn't just go to the office and start with his peace offering? If the mini-boss didn't accept it, then Wick could fight his way out to the car and leave without wrecking it.

I also felt the shotgun was a poor choice of weapon. Additionally, why wouldn't he just slip out the same way he slipped in? Instead, he just brazenly walks out into public? Dumb. Thirdly, it was demonstrated that a knife blade wouldn't have gone through the armor lining of his jacket. Why grapple so long with Cassian, trying to keep the knife away? Just let it strike the jacket and then do something to get it away.

I was really happy the hand-to-hand fight with the mute chick was so short. She was so annoying throughout the movie.

Lastly, cue the voice-over guy: "In a world where everyone is an assassin, one man is on the run..."

How would that maker help Wick, like Winston said? That marker had been fulfilled when bad guy put his blood thumb print on. I am thinking the marker at the end of the film is from Winston...also remember the code Winston gives to Accounts Payable; 11111, indicating Winston's importance to the system. Winston likes Wick as evident in the first movie when he gives the Russian brat's location to Wick.....while on Continental property (a violation of the no business rule) and then in this movie where he gives Wick an hour head start......Something Winston certainly didn't give to Perkins.

I've seen the press check style before, but I can't put my finger on where.

Great movie and the technical work with the guns was awesome. Reeves obviously works hard to be authentic and it shows. My hats off the him and Taran Butler for making this so good. The scene with the Sommelier was great although it sounded to me like he said the AR was an 11.5" compensated when it looked a lot like a 16". I was surprised to see such a mixed use of Suppressors in the film. As an assasin I would think that using a can is SOP, especially in the freaking catacombs. It did get a bit annoying that it seems like every 3rd person is an assasin. Not sure what to make of the scene with awinston when all the bystanders stop.

Chapter 3 should be good.

My theory for John Wick 3; John dies and the dog goes out for revenge..

Seriously though, loved the movie but liked the first one better.

I'd have liked him to take the marker, bloody it and give it to Winston as apology/recompense for the unfortunate incident on Continental grounds.

Queue easy segway to John Wick 3 "No Country for Old Dogs".
