Talk about the new version here..

So far, I like it. FBI lady is nice! Seems like the shuttles are a small nod to the original series.

ROTFLMAO......."You're talking 'Universal Healthcare'?"

I love it!
they're already tons of info saying how it's "related" to a certain situation.
I'm surprised they got away with as much as they did.
I wonder how long before it gets "cancelled" from low viewership

It was too rushed.

I don't like it.

The humans knew immediately that they were lizards, I don't like the look of the shuttles, the 'feel' of the show is just bad, IMO.

But, then, I rarely like new stuff right off the bat. I'll give it a chance but it doesn't look any different than a dozen other 'gritty' shows out there right now. At least the '80s version had a distinct look and feel.

Didn't watch it, but do the visitors say "Pretenama" like in the original?

pretty crappy acting, very leading, felt rushed, lack of cheesey 80's outfits and blue blocker sunglasses. I actually liked hpw in the original version they had the synthesized voices.

I have the original series, one of my favorite classics.
On the one hand, Morena ("Anna") has lost too much weight since playing "companion" on Serenity, but is of course still deadly enchanting. In an icewater-blood sort of way. Not a "Diana" from the original series, but perhaps more exemplary of who the disguised "V"'s actually are than Diana was.
I watched the first part tonight, with a fair amount of up-front scepticism regarding the comparable skills of the writers, directors and cast to equal the original series. The original "V" would be a hard act to follow.
So far, the new remake is not a bad job at all, and of course with much better computer graphics today than was available for the original.
Unless the "traitor" who just wanted to live a new life with his fiance leads the upcoming resistance, I don't see anyone so far who can match the original leader. Unless someone really blossoms or a new leader shows up.
So far, "I like it".
Just MHO.

I gotta say...not bad.

Yea, it was rushed to get ALL that into a 1 hour pilot. I think if they had gone with a 2 hour pilot, it might have been a little better.

But, it has potential. I'll keep watching. Love the political overtones. Big Grin

+1, it was rushed a bit too much,

however the last 10 minutes or so was preempted for election results, so I missed the ending,

(at least the election results were good!)

I used to be disgusted,

Yeah I agree. I liked it but it seemed like they were trying to cram way too much plot material in a one hour episode. In the original, it took the whole four hour miniseries for us to discover the true nature and intentions of the Visitors and there was barely a fledgling resistance. And I really hate how they just kind of tacked on that Ryan was secretly a Visitor and a member of the fifth column at the end of the episode. Kind of a big thing to spring on an old buddy who hates the Visitors. I know that I'm biased because I'm a fan of the original.

Great looking "V"isitors that the media treats with such awe, health care for all at no cost, indoctrinating the youth for future support, hum? Why does this all seem familiar? Eek

I agree with the "rushed" thing....a two-hour pilot would've been better. But as for revealing the V's true natures, c'mon...we ALL know they're lizards!

I like the whole "sleeper cell" angle, that is kinda neat.

In the original series, nobody could shoot worth a damn.

Back then, they all went to the A-Team Tactical Marksmanship Academy.

The floating claymore thing was pretty cool, though I'm surprised to see the actual Visitors relying on melee weapons.

Or why they went in with such small numbers. Really, why risk going in with that few, that blatantly, risking getting captured or having a dead alien lizard body displayed on Fox News, blowing their cover hardly a couple days into the campaign?

Too rushed - and I still prefer the original. Back then, the Visitors never wore 'civies' - they were always in those red uniforms.

Sure, the 80s version may not be as 'realistic', but I still like it better than the new one.

I'm laying odds that the older priest is a visitor also.

I think they gave way too much away in the pilot, I know they're trying to hook an audience, but like everyone else said, it looked rushed.

And Morena did lose too much weight.
