Hey Man, Nice Shot ![]() |
Has anyone seen it? I heard good things today about it, and I have to admit I'm curious just from the outstanding title.

The concept is hilarious (the flashback scenes are best) and they've got some good guys in the cast, but I hear the plot sort of drifts off to nothing after about 1/2 way through.

The fact the it has Boston's More Than A Feeling in the soundtrack makes it interesting to me.
I get the impression it's going to be a kooky movie like Burn After Reading was, and that 75% of people will probably hate it. Obamacare: On it's way to DOA. |

The wife and I went this afternoon. To sum it up in a sentence, "It's 90 minutes I'll never get back."
The trailers looked somewhat interesting but honestly, the best parts of the movie ARE the trailers. The movie was just bad. Not interesting at all. Akin to the scenes where Clooney and McGregor are in the desert...it was like watching sand in an hourglass. A huge disappointment. Clooney, McGregor, Bridges, Spacey...good actors in a terrible story. On the bright side, we did get freshly popped popcorn! On a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 2. // |

Spetsnaz. Sorry it hear it was that bad. My wife really wants to see it. But, you did point out the bright side of popcorn. If it really sucks she will have to make it up to me some how.

hmmmm.
My buddy turned me on to this one. He has a history of picking either REALLY awesome movies, or more typically, picking REALLY terrible movies. When he told me about it, i thought he was nuts. After he showed me the preview, i wanted to see it. It's bad to see a bad review of it, i was looking forward to this one. I guess if he wants to go to see it i'll still go, but won't press the issue. Kevin Karma? Karma is just justice without the satisfaction. |

Kevin and others, I'm just giving you our perspectives of the movie. Considering the story and the actors involved, I honestly was expecting this to be a funny, entertaining flick.
My movie tastes runs almost identical with Roger Ebert. I checked his website and he gave it a 3-1/2 stars out of 4. One of us is seriously wrong. Go see the movie. You may find it entertaining. Hopefully, the popcorn will be freshly popped. // |

Yeah, Spetsnaz, I'm sayin Ebert was definitely wrong on this one. My wife and I were both very excited about this one, too. The trailers were great, and we went to see it for her birthday.
It got two thumbs down. Definitely a waste of time. Shame. |

Clooney was the best part of the movie. The scenes where he displays his psychic powers are great, because he's so intense. Spacey is supposed to be such a vile, loathing character but he doesn't really come off as anything more than a petulant six year old who had his lollipop taken away. Everytime I saw Bridges, I could only think of Big Lebowski. Ewan is just as good here as he was in Black Hawk Down, but the constant references to the Jedi got old quick.
The plot of the movie was virtually non-existant. The modern-day military image we all know conflicts with the way the servicemen participating in the program were portrayed. I laughed a few times during the film, but fell asleep maybe four times--and I went in the afternoon. It's just a really lame movie. ________________________ "In closing, I remind you that my client has been accused of an incredibly heinous crime. A review coming from a guy who obviously likes "Trailer Park Boys"...Works for me. I'll pass on it.

7.2/10 on IMDB. I tend to go by those user ratings a lot. If they suck, I most likely will hate it.

Do NOT go see this film with expectations based on the trailers. See it, but with a clear mind. I caught it on the matinee showing yesterday and I'm glad I saw it, though I'm not sure why. I'll expound...
The trailer leads one to believe there is a great deal of physical humor and funny one-liners. There are, but not the kind I expected. It's difficult to put into words, but the best way I can describe the humor is "amusing, but not hysterical." There were several parts that caused me to chuckle, but the LOL's were few and far between. Plotwise...it wandered a bit too much for me. I could follow it easily enough, but by the end, I found myself wondering what the hell just happened. Nothing like Burn After Reading's demise of Brad Pitt. Not that shocking. But more like the screenwriter got bored toward the end and just threw down a sitcom-esque ending that had little to do with the events leading up to that point. That being said...I got the gist: Bridges's and Clooney's characters had to atone for the past for closure. Unfortunately, they did so at the expense of mine. PLOT: 5/10 HUMOR: 6/10 ACTING: 9/10 CAST: 9/10 TITS & ASS: 1/10 (if only for the nekkid hippie chicks in the hot tub scene) Bottom line, IMHO, check it out on a discount matinee if you can't wait to rent it from RedBox for a buck. _________________________________________________________________________ I've spent most of my money on camera gear, guns and strippers. The rest, I've wasted. _________________________________________________________________________ Being Irish, he had an abiding sense of tragedy, which sustained him through temporary periods of joy. |

Witticism pending... |
I saw it this evening. The best part about the entire movie was the fact that she paid.

Went to a 7:10 show today and the 3 guys I went with and I all sat spaced out. If we hadn't I think we would have walked out.
I honestly thought it was over 2 hours and was surprised at the short run time when I got out. I really feel like Hollywood is doing so many remakes/rehashes/relaunches/TV adaptations because any time something decent comes along it's just a pile of disappointment. |

The wife liked it. I kept waiting for it to be over. Thank god for the popcorn refills.

Really stupid titles turn me off to the movie before I even know what it is about.
