The doomsday music thread where I already posted Ghost's "Dance Macabre" reminded me of a disquieting trend I observed recently: Disco is making a comeback. There were early warnings like the 2016 "Cheese Nacho Baby" by Ghost's fellow Swedes of Royal Republic. By now it has caught people like The Weeknd (video sponsored by Mercedes, no less) and Dua Lipa. And worst of all, it has caught me.

I'm with bendable, those really don't sound like old disco to me. Of the three though, I like The Weekends most.

Yeah these millennials are no Giorgio Moroder, who was behind all of Summer's hits. Giorgio was a mastermind and a supreme talent. With Kraftwerk one of the main people on the planet that changed music, and early inventor of Techno, House music, EDM.

The idiots today are recyclers. And music is a big free for all with no record store influence, no critic influence, no anything. Film is going the same way. Legendary anything is going the way of the dodo.

Disco, and many people hated it, like many genres was loaded with crap. But that I dunno, 5-10%, was absolutely outstanding. Analog synth based where everything today is an app on a laptop.

Ah, tough crowd. Try this (yes, it's from 2001 and heavily drawing on Sheila and B. Devotion's "Spacer").

Great, now I'm listening to disco while working with and soldering PCB connections for my wife's new (to her) Homelink unit for her car to replace the garage and gate remotes.

I think it's helping, actually. Cool

I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all. -Ecclesiastes 9:11

Got the sound, the look, and the roller skates! Makes one feel it's still 1978.

The 'Dua Lipa' linked above sounds like someone trying to recreate disco after only ever having seen 'Stranger Things'
