A bunch of the classic action movies on Amazon Prime. So far, I have watched:

Stratton (newer movie Brit SBS aka Special Boat Service going after a terrorist with bio-weapon, very similar to Strike Back)

The Killer Elite

A Bridge Too Far (watching now)

and on the watchlist, two Rutger Hauer movies:

Split Second and Omega Doom

This must have just come onto Prime. I've been trying to find it on some of the streaming services for a while now. I found it on Tubi right before it dropped off but never got a chance to watch it.

Thanks so much for this site. I have a feeling I'll be wearing it out.

Which one, the original mid 1970’s movie with James Caan and Robert Duval, or the 2011 remake with Jason Statham?

Killer Elite is the movie with Jason Statham.
The Killer Elite is the one with James Caan and Robert Duval, both are good flicks and worth watching. And Ronin is a great one, a must see. And if it is still on there Danger Close is a damn good Vietnam war flick.

Here are my movie ratings of those based on muzzle flashes:

Stratton (not rated)
The Killer Elite (97 flashes)
A Bridge Too Far (~400 flashes)
Split Second (25 flashes)
Omega Doom (zero flashes)

Ronin (184 flashes)
Apocalypto (not rated)
Inception (not rated)
3:10 to Yuma (not rated)
For a Few Dollars More (not rated)
Harry Brown (not rated)
Death Wish 2018 (not rated, but I have the first 5)
Boondock Saints (50 flashes)

Lawless (not rated)

Brannigan (not rated)
Big Jake (~100 flashes)
The Final Countdown (not rated)
The Devil's Brigade (~200 flashes)
Sands of Iwo Jima (~200 flashes)
Flight From Ashiya (not rated)
Breakheart Pass (not rated)
Guns of the Magnificent Seven (not rated)
Lone Wolf McQuade (210 flashes)
Chato's Land (not rated)

My ratings have not been done for most recent movies, and I tend not to rate Westerns because they seldom get a very high rating (though I do enjoy them). My ratings run from 0 (fewer than 10) to 8* (more than 6400 flashee); 200 would get 4*. Only "A Bridge Too Far" rated higher than 4* -- it gets 5*. The highest ratings go to "Z" movies -- horrible acting and plots but very high budgets for flashy blanks (think AIP movies with David and Ted Prior). Gangster and war movies also tend to rate highly.

I've got to a point now that I catch myself counting how many rounds have been fired from 1911's, various pistols, and most always revolvers! Big Grin

The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957)

Early in the movie at least 2 Japanese soldiers were armed with Enfields.

Edited to add: On second viewing of selected scenes there were a whole lot more than 2 Enfields. I also saw a few Thompson sub machine guns as well as a couple of Vickers water-cooled.
