Finally got around to Season 6 and watched it over the last week. I totally agree with this point. For some reason, I think it would have been much better to 'fade to black' here and skip the romp.

I'm in agreement with other comments that the writers seemed at pains to tie up the characters in a neat 'happily-ever-after' package. But, if they were going to do that: What about Matthias? Over the course of the series, he became one of my favorite characters, and it was disappointing that his character got ignored in the wrap up.

I don't have Netflix. Just starting in on Season 5 on DVD. Can someone tell me why Vic is limping? Is that in the script or does the actress have a physical problem?

Just finished it up the last season, now isn't it nice the a show actually finishes and actually closes everything out nicely for every character. I dont think red horse should of been put away though and his daughter being the sheriff is quite the stretch but gives the ample opportunity to make it a new show with her starring as the new Longmire

and too the point just above yes Mathias got hung out to dry on the wrap up

Thanks. I watched the last episode of Season 4 and the first episode of Season 5 last night and noticed the limp. I think I noticed something else as well. To help her to remember to limp, it looked like the heel of her right boot was missing.

I don't think Matthias got hung out to dry. He is still the top cop on the "Rez" but now he is working with and for Henry. That will be good partnership that will finally start doing some good for the tribe. I think over the seasons, Matthias really developed as a character, starting to work with Walt and Cady to get things done both on and off the "Rez".

I really did think that when Walt went out with Lucian's ashes in the final scene, he was going to find Anson Hamilton's treasure......and call Vic on a cell phone to tell her.

I enjoy the show but the writing leaves something to be desired. Examples:

In season one, some guy gets shot and killed out in the woods. The coroner gets the bullet and tells Walt it's a 45-70 and that he is looking for someone with an antique rifle because only old rifles are chambered in 45-70.
Gab gets raped and Cady tells her she needs a lawyer. No, most people who are raped call the police, not a lawyer

In one episode, someone hears a pump action shotgun get racked and when he turns around, the bad guy is pointing a side by side at him.

Henry gets shot by Walt with a 30-30 and spends the next few days just limping around. I don't think that would be the experience of most people hit in the leg with a 30-30 slug.

Walt gets shot in abdomen but bullet goes "through and through" and exits his back without damaging any internal organs. Excuse me?

Walt loses a lot of blood but no evidence that he has a transfusion. Instead, because it was a "through and through" he is able to exit the hospital in a gown and go back to work that day. What a stud!

They go to the lady psychiatrist's office trying to identify her crazy patient. HIPPA aside, instead of telling the staff, that she is missing and in danger and asking if they know, which patient is likely to be responsible, they ransack the office, throw files out the window, take them back to the office and no one apparently notices they are gone. They take them back to the office and start poring over them. What are they looking for? The doctor's note saying, "This person is REALLY crazy. Much crazier than my other patients and I think they may abduct me one day."

BY the way, someone needs to tell Walt that when you're doing a room by room search in a strange house, your finger needs to be along the trigger guard, not on the trigger.

These are just a few. I'm sure there are many more I have missed.

I know... it's just a TV show.

Finished it last night, sad for it to be over but believe it had played out and they get credit for just putting a period at the end.

Really, really enjoyed the whole series.

In fairness, the round that hit Henry did skip off a rock first.

The 45-70 thing bugged me, but I accepted it as a minor flaw in an otherwise excellent show.

After watching Vic tease us for 5 seasons, it was damn well worth it to see her half naked......

My new retirement plan is to get elected Sheriff in a small Wyoming community and live in a log cabin with an improbably huge plot of picturesque land. I’d be much nicer to the somewhat shady but basically well intentioned Cheyenne casino owner.

My only gripe about the finale is Cady running for Sherrif. That’s Vic’s job. Or even The Ferg (who knew he was a gunslinger?)

But not Cady of the Wide Eyes and Poor Choices.

I just started reading the books earlier this week. I’m nearly done with the third one. HUGE differences. I like them both, but might actually prefer the show. That’s a first for me. I’ve decided they are alternate universes from each other.

I am guessing you missed Longmire’s wife’s back story and pretty much the entire reason for the tone of the show??

That wasn't Jacob. That was Connely. Even AFTER Walt learned Jacob had nothing to do with his wife's death he still blamed Jacob for literally everything that happened in the county. Jacob's crime was money laundering and turning a blind eye to drugs and prostitution in his casino, not murder. Jacob is my favorite kind of villain. He's a bad guy who doesn't know he is a bad guy and who does the things he does because he thinks its all to achieve a greater good.

Jacob invests $750k in a legal service and hires Walt's daughter. Walt gets hostile towards Cady and outright accuses her of turning against him. He then manipulates her to go all stick happy upside Jacob's skull when he can't do it because he KNOWS Jacob kidnapped Henry. Jacob had nothing to do with it.

Perhaps you missed the end of the show when Walt realizes he has treated Jacob unfairly and elects to save him?

Walt's blind spot where Jacob was concerned was his flaw, and I'm glad the show gave him one and that literally every other major character called him on it at one point or another.

Let's not forget that both Walt and Henry have more than a few "legally questionable" skeletons in their closet...

I loved that show. I'd kind of like to see a movie continue the story line, but I'm afraid they'd just screw it up.

Yes, Connely is the one who had Walt’s wife killed but the story begins even deeper before that. Why did he have her killed??
Because she was a huge activist against the casino she was a huge proponent for the native people but was so adamantly against the casino even though she knew that it would bring a lot of jobs and money to the people she knew that the opportunity cost to res that would come along with it, the corruption, drugs, and crime would be so bad the casino would not be worth it.

Walt’s hate for Jacob Nighthorse was certainly personal until he realized he had nothing to do with his wife’s murder. After that realization it was not personal but a fight against the casino. Jacob just happened to be the figurehead and that is where Walt’s focus was directed and would have been directed at whoever was head of the casino.

And as you pointed out Walt finally came to that realization and saves his life.
