Go see the movie.

If you talk about it, you will give too much away. Just go see it.

As mentioned before, this is a 10/10. This is the reason for big screen TVs and surround sound.

It is worth every penny of the admission price.

define "first batman movie"...is that Batman in 1989? Or Batman Begins?

I'll define it for you

Batman 1966 Big Grin And that one rocked. The only Batman movies that blew IMHO were the Joel Shumacher ones.

The 1966 version rocked hard, I did not like the 1989 version, Jack was great but I hated Michael Keaton as Batman.

Just saw it tonight. I'm a movie junkie and I'm not a fan of the "sentimental Oscar", with that said I think that unless someone pops up out of nowhere in the next few months there will be someone accepting a well deserved Academy Award on the behalf of Heath Ledger next Spring.

As far as the "phony" voice, I just took it to mean that Bruce Wayne, knowing that he would be dealing w/ alot of the same people he would be dealing w/ as Batman, would try and mask his voice so as not to be revealed.

I didn't think Christopher Nolan could have topped Batman Begins but he did. Nice intricate script and even greater assured direction from Nolan than Batman Begins. A lot of praise is being heaped on Heath Ledger's performance (which is well deserved) but equal praise should be given to Chris Nolan and crew for re-imagining The Joker. This Joker will go down in movie history alongside Darth Vader and Hannibal Lector. Who cares about the Oscars. He's already made movie history with this performance. Gary Oldman's performance was the second biggest surprise. I've always been a fan but I never thought he could pull off such a performance. In some ways I thought his performance was even more surprising than Ledger's.

No doubt this movie is already one of my favorite movies of all time.

The moment the end credits started I turned to my friends and said "They need to bring Heath Ledger back from the dead. NOW."

I saw the film yesterday. Worth the admission. Chicago was a surprise choice. They could have titled this movie "The Joker". Ledger/Joker steals the show with Bale/Batman relegated to a supporting character.

Ledger might win for Supporting Actor, but only Effects and maybe Sound would be eligible for this movie.

Why is that? Are there certain criteria that would exclude The Dark Knight??

I plan on going Thursday to see it....can't wait.

I think its the fact that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) does not look highly upon movies that based off of comic books.

I'd like to think that if any comic based movie can do it, it would be this one.

Just saw it today on IMAX in Orlando.

The best part was the trailer for The Watchmen.

Otherwise, I was a bit disappointed with Dark Knight.

I was hoping for something at least a bit similar to the epic Dark Knight series from the 80's.

Not close.

I was annoyed at the indecision of the civvies on the boat.

I was annoyed by Bale's growl.

I didn't find Ledger's performance any better than what could've been done by any run of the mill actor. If he gets an Oscar for that performance, I'll shit my pants.

It wasn't 'dark' enough.

Dent/Two-Face was great. But more character development would've been nice.

I hated that they blatantly used Chicago for most of the river scenes. Chicago isn't Gotham.

Watched Batman Begins on Blu-Ray last night in preparation of watching the Dark Knight on Friday. Did anyone watch the "IMAX Experience" scene that was on the disc? It was a whole scene of the Joker robbing a bank. Great stuff I can't wait to see the movie on Friday.

Thanks for saying what I'd been thinking, but I figured that it would be seen as heresy. Ledger was good, but if he were still alive I don't think his performance would be getting the raves that it is. Jack Nicholson (The Shining, NOT as the Joker), Anthony Hopkins and Robert DeNiro have all played crazed psychos that didn't rely on makeup and lisping. Jeff Goldblum in "The Fly" was terrifying.

"...do you know how I got these scars?"

The movie was excellent. Ledger was awesome. I really like Gary Oldman's and Michael Caine's characters too.

Well done Mr. Nolan, well done.

I saw it today.

Meh. Never thought I would say that.

I liked Iron Man better. Never thought I would say that, either.

I liked Batman Begins more than this. Just didn't get me.

Bale is hot, yeah. I like Bale. Ledger did a great job as the Joker, but he is not the only one who could pull it off.

Worth the price of admission, sure. But: Meh.

Trailer for Watchmen was good, though.

He had the deeper voice in Begins. Maybe it's deeper - i haven't been able to see it yet - but the difference was there.

It's understandable - no reason he wouldn't try to modulate his voice so as to be unrecognizable as Bruce Wayne. Remember, Dawes didn't know it was Wayne until he more or less told her at the end - there's supposed to be a vocal difference.

Ledger did a spectacular job as the Joker but the writing of who the Joker was as was written was what really made that character. The Joker is and was scripted as anarchy personified. It wasn't just Heath Ledger and the acting that came through it was the writing.

Personally I think the unsung hero of the movie was Aron Eckert as Harvey Dent/Two Face. This was another character who was both written and acted brilliantly. Both Harvey Dent and Two Face were incredibly well done.

I don't now how one could say this wasn't dark enough as the movie, IMO, bordered on a solid R rating and was a deep, complex storyline well above most super hero movies.

I personally think it was an extremely well done movie in script, acting, tone and entertainment. I will say that although I think the Joker as portrayed was perfect and Heath Ledger was incredible, I don't think he overshadowed several of the other exceedingly good acting jobs by some of the others.

My personal take is the movie is a bit much to fully take in, in one sitting.

Big thumbs up from me.
