I felt the same way when I was dragged out to see Mamma Mia, The Nutcracker and Phantom of the Opera.

Sorry dude. She got the message, eventually, and no longer asks me to go to the opera. I don't ask her to go to the range either. Win-win.

We've been to see a number of productions over the years, but I said "No!" to Cats and Hamilton.

From what I've seen of Cats, it doesn't interest me at all so your advice sounds spot on. For Hamilton, I've read and studied Ron Chernow's excellent work; I don't need to see a musical reimagining of it.

And it's not just that the Cats movie is a musical...

It's literally one of the most critically-panned and audience-disliked movies of the last couple decades. Hated by even musical lovers.

Just terrible, by any metric.

I decided to stop watching and only listen - singing sucked.

Tried watching the acting without listening/paying attention to the soundtrack - acting and especially the special effect - sucked hairy elephant balls.

Tried following the story (for some sort of redemption) nothing really made sense there.

About the only thing I could appreciate was the first minute of Ian McCellan (Gandalf) singing but, after the first minute, 90 seconds, he sucked at that.

Zero redeeming qualities in this movie.

I should have grabbed that pencil.

If that were to happen, and it won't, I'd make it an early night.

I would laugh at her so hard and for so long, that she wouldn't be able to watch it from any room on any level in the house.

Good thing she is looking forward to our next movie night's showing, which will be John Wick 3 in 4K.

As said, it's basically the worst movie of all time. No one who has seen it likes it and hordes of people left the theaters before the thing ended.

Who in their right mind would want to see it knowing that??? Did your lady set you up or something? Was this a test?

I don't know if this THE worst movie ever made. I mean, the last Chralie's Angels was pretty horrible, from what I heard. I'll never know since I'll never watch either of them.

The only way I'd watch Cats is if I wanted something to laugh at a make fun of. Doubt that would go over with a SO.

We enjoy musicals and the touring Broadway shows. We have seen a number of them. I have never seen Cats but it is the one show my wife absolutely refuses to watch. It must be really bad.
