I've been trying the last hour looking to see if there's some sort of retainer holding the lower half of the Quad Rail from sliding toward the upper receiver and down off the upper half of the said rail.
I've got the upper receiver detached from the lower with the forward retaining screw and its shroud completely removed. I'm about close to taking a hammer to the rail to slam it down. Is there something I'm doing wrong? -Sid ==================== Freedom is not free. |

If I remember correctly, you need to remove the FRONT RETAINING PIN that holds the upper and the lower together....

Yes, I've done that, but described it as the forward retaining screw/pin and its shroud/pin (where the threaded "pin" screws into). One removed from the right side, the other removed from the left.
The upper receiver and lower are completely detatched. On close inspection, there's evidence of forced fitting of the lower quad rail. I'm seeing the protective coating where the lower rail's rear pin hole seats all scraped off as metal on metal were forced together. This is not good news. -Sid ==================== Freedom is not free. |

Jim, do you mean the front retaining pin that holds the upper and lower RECEIVERS together? Or another pin I'm unaware of that holds the upper and lower RAILS together? -Sid ==================== Freedom is not free. |

Reverse the installation instructions with a large nylon hammer present.

Thank you much, Mitch! Seems my lower Quad Rail was forced into position and will not budge. I've gone so far as to take a wood spacer and hammer it loose, but no luck. I'm wondering if everyone's quad rail was this difficult to remove or is it just my rifle. -Sid ==================== Freedom is not free. |

Sid, you have apparently not made your sacrifice to the rail gods. Once you put enough pressure on it it WILL eventually break loose and take a good chunk of skin with it. After that you will be able to get it on and off regularly.
At least, that was my experience. Mark |
