M249(S) Barrel Chopping
Does anyone know if the gas hole/port diameters differ between standard length and paratrooper M249 barrels with self-regulating gas systems? I have a standard length barrel I was hoping to shorten to just over 16" and thread for a suppressor, but the Smith I'm working with brought up there may be functioning issues without an adjustable gas valve.

Thanks for the input!

Why not just buy a second barrel?

It is actually the third barrel.

Find an early 249 barrel with the two position gas regulator. It’s by far the easiest way to deal with this.

I did the same, works great.

Well that sucks, I had just such a barrel from a box of random parts I bid on, and a buddy wanted it to make a lamp...

What length did you shorten it to?
