SFCUSARET2 grand to spend on an AR? I'd buy 3 of them. They so cheap to buy now days.

10X-ShooterIf I had a couple of thousand and looking for an AR I might be tempted to go with the HK. I’ve been wanting to try their upper.

MikeGLIIve handled and shot a few KACs and they're very nice.
Nowadays, it's hard not to look at a BCM or a DD and suppressor but if a really nice AR is what you're looking for I'd but a KAC.

JP rifles with their LMOS carriers, captive silent buffer, and an adjustable gas block are a thing of beauty.
Everyone who shoots one of mine says, "Wow, how do you get it to shoot like that?"
Their barrels are top notch for precision also.

Stocks, optics (from the right maker), etc. I recently built on a used Mega Monolithic upper because the price was right and it was essentially unfired.

soggy_spinoutWith that kind of budget I'd cherry pick what components I want and build my own. Off the shelf, I like KAC for DI and PWS for piston though an SSA-E is a must for me these days.

brickboy240Colt 6920 with an Aimpoint PRO. Swap the stock furniture for Magpuls and add several P-mags.
That should run just under 2 grand and do everything for you.

smpsmpI'd go with one of PWS Alpha rifles (preferably an sbr) and throw an aimpoint t2 and mini scout light on it. If budget allows also a magnifier, otherwise take whats left and get some mags and ammo.

Depending on intended use and desire for low weight, optics would be one of the following:
Aimpoint Micro
Aimpoint Pro
Trijicon RS24-C 1-4x24
Trijicon TR24R 1-4x24
Vortex Razor HD Gen II-E 1-6x24
All would get a Geissele trigger.
