Grant at G&R tactical can make you a Noveske barreled upper to meet your needs. So if you want to extend your options while retaining excellent build quality and use of a Noveske barrel, give him a call or send an email.

If Noveske doesn't offer exactly what you want and you can wait until barrels are back in stock at G&R, then it is a non-issue.

The school of Noveske is very simple:

- John has built just about the most durable barrels for the AR platform on the market. They don't start wearing out till the 10,000 round mark comes around, roughly double the life of a standard barrel.

- Noveske sources the best components in the business when it comes to the rest of the weapon. Uppers, lowers, furniture, small components, sights... these are all the parts that really anal retentive, budget is no question types would use.

- Noveske rifles are put together one at a time, in a very quality oriented environment, by people who know what they are doing and treat every weapon they put together like their own.

Frankly, 99% of most shooters don't need a Noveske (god knows, I certainly don't), but if you are in the market for the best built AR out there, I don't think there is a better company to turn to.

Yup, sure did. Here is the link for anyone interested. They have the 14.5" chorme and the 16" stainless barrels listed on the page, but I asked them for the 16" chrome Recce barrel and they said no problem. Noveske's great.

That was my experience with Noveske as well when I asked them for a rifle compliant with my state's laws. It seems like they'll build you the rifle you want and all you have to do is ask.

FWIW I ordered a G&R-built N4/DD upper about 10 or 12 days ago. It is already in my safe. I live in Los Angeles County, CA.

I reckon he might have barrels.

I have a 16.1 mid-length Noveske barrel in a AR mated with a LaRue billet upper and 12 " free float rail.

A few comments:

1) Polygonal Rifling = less bullet distortion = better accuracy

2) This combo yields 3/16ths MOA at 200 yds

3) It's a very heavy barrel - that's a bummer 'cuz I am a weakling. (With glass (IOR Valdada 2x12) puts it at about 12 lbs.)

I took it out this afternoon; just pulled it out of the case and started shooting the center out of targets at 100 yds. Cool

What is the difference between the N4 Light Rifle and the standard version. Both are available with VIS, but what are the major differences?

BTT. Looks like I'm going to have to pick one out now, as my trade fell through.

The N4 light is a double chrome lined Chrome Moly barrel that will still get you sub MOA, at least it does most users. The regular Recon is a SS barrel that will give you the most in accuracy but the price is shortened longevity, weight and it's more finicky. It'll get fouled faster and the accuracty will degrade a bit. They're both mid-length gas systems so you can't go wrong there. Just depends on what you might want to use it for. Long range, nothing else, Recon. All around, heavy firing schedule, N4. Like others have said, the VIS is a Vltor billet receiver that is stiffer than a regular reciever that lets you extract every little bit of accuracy out of the barrel.

JakJakMan, what kind of stock is that? did the VTAC come with the lower rail for the fore grip or did you have to put it on yourself?

The stock is a Magpul UBR. The VTAC tube came clean, so I ordered the rail additions from Viking Tactics. They fairly simple to install. The thread I did about the rifle build can be found here.

The more I think about it, the more I'm talking myself into building one of these (Noveske N4 Light Recce Low-Profile 16"):

with this furniture (LaRue Tactical UDE kit):

I keep looking to see if Rainier Arms gets those Noveske stripped lowers back in stock...
