Nice rifle. I guess they are an acquired taste, as much as I try I just can't get into these rifles, but they are good looking. Congrats Smile

Beautiful rifle. Loved my past FAL's. If I could find a nice one in the $12-1400 range I might pick it over the M1A I've been wanting.

I think I've got maybe $850 or so in this one.

Para's are just so expensive!

Very nice battle rifle. Now I need to get off my butt and get the Imbel kit I have stashed away built. How long was the wait time for the receiver?

When I ordered mine it was 6 months to a year, but now I think wait times are fairly short.

I know they're offering a group buy for FalFiles members.

Don't Guncoat or Duracoat it unless you work on the ejector angle. Fals get the shit banged out of the lower by the ejected shells and Guncoat or Duracoat will not hold up where the shells hit.

Of course, you could put on some tape or something in the impact spot....

Park it or try one of the CCR finishes.

My other FALs are parked.
I'm considering painting this one as factory Imbel Paras were paint over Park. The semi-gloss black looks good. Big Grin

I typically tape where the brass kisses are. Big Grin

Outstanding looking rifle. I've always wanted a para but that got beat out when I added an L1A1 to the stable instead. I'm of the opinion that you should leave the finish as-is. It looks good a little weathered.

TPBoL,
How do you find the sighting ergonomics on FALS? I have fairly wide shoulders and find that I have to "force" myself down into a FAL to get a sight picture. After shooting one for a while, my neck usually ends up hurting. I was really big into FALS at one time but, because of this issue, I'm down to this one last FAL.

I've even thought of selling my PARA off but, find myself unable to do it.

I haven't really had a problem getting down on the sights on any of my FALs.

I have occasionally had them "slap" me in the cheek, until I found the best way to hold them, but when the gas is properly set, and the rifle tucked in correctly, I don't have that issue.

FALs are generally a joy to shoot Smile

VERY nice! I've lusted after a para for a while, but it looks like I'm going to have to carry on without for the near future. I've got a plain mix-n-match that gets most of the range time, and then my pride, a "correct" (excepting 922 parts) G1 Ex-German by way of Turkey:

I really think the FAL has it above the other battle rifles in the way of everything except maybe sights. I love the ergonomics, reletively inexpensive magazines, reliable as all get out, and besides all that stuff, they just plain look good!

Very, Very, Very, Sexy!!!

When I was building FAL's I always wanted a Para, but the parts were way out of reach at the time. Wish I'd have stashed a kit away.

I agree. Sights could be much better, don't care for the rear lock up and I'd rather the rear sight not be located on the lower reciever. Not expecting perfection, the FAL is one hell of a rifle.

That is a beautiful G1. Very classy!

Sights are actually pretty good on this one.

They're A2 style, so if you like AR15 sights, you'll like these. They're windage adjustable with the knob on the right side of the sight, as well as the standard "opposing screw" adjustment that FALs have.

I shot a F/A G-1 entensively and you needed an asbestos oven mitt after about three or four mags to even hope to hold onto it without second or third degree burns. I am amazed when you see the guys in the Congo humping these things in the heat and sunlight and not leaving "major skin" on the handguards!!!!
