Well typical Gun Maufacturer, see below response from SIG I received last night regarding SIG 522 availability date.

Dear Sir,
There is no set release date for the 522 but we expect to have it out in fall 2009.
We have already accumulated a large backlog list to fill, the best way to go about receive one
would be to have a sig dealer place an order for you so that you are on the list to receive one.

Regards,
Natasha

To me that means feel lucky if we get it out to market before mid-2010.

Also the MSRP already went up from $515 to $543.

My questions is why do all gun manufacturers teases on weapons coming out one to two years prior? Response: To build up the momentum so people run out to pre-order.

GSG-5 seems to be dropping in price.... maybe that'll stunt double for awhile.

To be honest, if I were a gun company, the last thing I'd be doing right now would be to shut down a production line in order to retool it for a new product. You can bet that Sig is doing all they can to get as many 556s out the door while the great Obama EBR run is still going on. (See also: Bushmaster ACR.) This is bad luck for those of us who'd be interested in a 522, but I understand it, nonetheless.

Excellent point and quite valid.

Fact remains that they are baiting the consumer on the SIG 522. Why not saying upfront: MSRP: not known or a range and stop the speculation and saying in their website availability: Fall of 2009 or whenever.

I remember the BERETTA PX4, I got tired of waiting and bought an FN P9 and have never regreted it.

It isn't even out yet and I'm done with the 522. Going to build an AR-15 and get a 22LR conversion for it.

That way it can be more than a popgun if required.

Been quiet on this post for a while, has anyone even heard of one being delivered yet to anywhere?
My understanding is that police orders from Sig authorized distributors, actually the place I went to only sells to police, and they still have yet to have one delivered...
I thought the gun buying panic was over, what's the real problem?

Thanks, my patience for this getting thin..

P.S. I'm also a bit old school, I have in some case quantities of (all in 9mm) P210,P220,P225,P226,P228,P229's but nothing since they went plastic. Maybe someday I'll try one...

I said the hell with the 522. Need a rifle to shoot inside this winter, so can't wait for Sig to get the job done. Got a GSG-5 SD and love it.

The EBR run is over. Manufacturers are starting to deal with inventory piling up, and difficulty moving it.

Yeah just got the American Rifleman today the S&W was in there, I didn't know they even made one as well...
I've just been pig headed and have just been waiting and not paying attention to other manufactures. All I've ever heard is good things on GSG-5.
I can't believe that 80% of the people that wanted something like this haven't already bought one and they've seriously missed the boat. It would be interesting if the gsg-5 sales numbers are known...

Well here we are in November and still no positive delivery date on the Sig. I am still waiting and #6 on the list for mine at my local GS.
In the meantime I have acquired the GSG-5,Colt (Umarex)22lr M4, colt(umarex) OPs version and the SW MP15-22. The GSG5 has the nicest trigger and is OK for accuracy the Colts are not as relible as one would hope but the SW by far is more accurate and reliable as all get out. Disassembly is a breeze. The SW can be disassembled, cleaned and reassembled in just minutes. The Colts don't come apart far enough to get a good cleaning. The GSG is about average but far more complicated than the SW.

I can't wait to get the Sig and put some rounds down range with it.

I was talking to someone at Sig maybe a week or two ago about another issue and mentioned I'm still waiting and they just laughed don't know if this was based knowledge or what. Last I checked there weren't even being delivered for police orders so it appears no time soon.
I've tried all four (also the Remington) once it warms up if the Sig isn't here I'll just buy the SW.

They are being delivered now and some dealers have gotten shipments. Several are listed with pictures on Gunbroker right now. Lower is said to be polymer on these. Hopefully we have some reviews and more detailed pictures soon.

Ah see that, one has a $499 price tag hanging on it but I suspect their betting on people fighting over it.

I posted this in the other 522 thread but will put it again in this one. I spoke with a stocking dealer late Friday afternoon (10/30) and they were to have them available the first of this week. I tried again Monday morning and they had received 6 and they were already gone. He said (this is where you have to choose what to believe) that Sig had informed him (when he called for the rest of the shipment) that they were now 8 months behind. I hope that isnt true but who knows. Just passing on what the dealer told me.
