April?

What about the damn 556p I have had on order since November. They need to focus on filling orders and releasing the damn parts to the 250 which is 2 years past due now!

Look at the size difference between it and the classic on top.

Fellas, please take 2 minutes write your reps about the Assault Weapons Ban at: http://www.capwiz.com/nra/dbq/officials/ and make this your sig line too if you value the cause.

The angle on that photography is misleading... the top weapon is much larger than the middle weapon as well.

Sig has posted the specs for both the classic and the 522 on their site and there is a 7+ inch difference in overall length.

Is there anyone taking pre-orders yet? I have to get in on this one!

ETA: I just read the ad fully and does the 522 come with a micro type dot sight?

Would rather have a 7.62x51mm from SIG, then a .22. Just me though.

Looks very good through.

Rep at SHOT told me 10 rd mags 1st. 20 and 30 in the works. Price around $16.

Didn't know if Black Dog mags worked or not.

So, you are saying that they won't have the 30 round mags shipped with a new purchase when they are released?

FWIW, I stopped by my local dealer and saw a bunch of 556s today. No classics or 522s but I did see the 522's weird new 551esque hand guard on a 556 with irons and the holo sight.

It was interesting. Not sure that I would have any desire to swap it for a 551 HG as it was very similar in overall shape (and weight I'd guess). It just had the slots in different places and a flatter top to it I think. Before I saw the HG on this 556, I'd assumed it was proprietary to the upcoming 522.

This shop had about 10 556s in various configurations (swats, BUIS, holo sights, quad railed pistol, standard pistol) and many were newer because they had the newest sig iron sights on them. The prices started at around $1,500 for a 'stripper' and the pistols had jumped up in price since I last popped in 3 weeks ago ($1,499 to $1,999 for the base pistol!). I sure hope the 522 gets out and can be had for under $500.

Same here. Couldn't find a GSG-5 anywhere to save my life. Hopefully the 522's will be easier to come by.

I just saw this thread. The article referred to here doesn't say it's the same company making it. It talks about Kalashkikov, the inventor of the AK47 allowing his AK-47 to be licensed by GSG. It says it should do well considering the companies in the Sauerland region in Germany also done well with their 22 guns such as the Mosquito and GSG-5.

1. Who gave you the info that the GSG and Mosquito are made by the same company??
2. WHAT COMPANY IS IT??
3. DO YOU OWN a Mosquito? I've sold nearly 100 over the last couple of years and they are darn fun guns that work fairly well.
I'm tired of seeing people ranting and raving over a product they've NEVER owned, NEVER shot and NEVER will. Roll Eyes

1. Here is an article in one of the biggest gun magazines in Germany saying that it's the same company manufacturing both of them: http://www.visier.de/1532a.html.
Maybe they're wrong and you're right...
2. THEY ARE CALLED GERMAN SPORT GUNS. THEIR WEB SITE CAN BE FOUND HERE: http://www.germansportguns.de/index.php?id=10100
3. And yes, I am an unfortunate owner of a Mosquito. I haven't sold it because I can't bear myself to to pass it on to someone else. Maybe mine's a lemon, but it truly is a POS.
My experience from shooting and playing with a GSG-5 is that it's pretty obvious that GSG took one of their fairly decent airsoft rifles and turned it into a .22. As a .22 version of an airsoft rifle, it's decent, as an MP5-clone, it's a joke.

So no, I'm not ranting about guns I've never owned or shot, I'm just giving MY opinions based on MY experience.
But like I said earlier, if it's better than the GSG and Mosquito, I might get one. I'm pretty sure where not to get it though...

i dont read german so well, but google's translation doesn't say that GSG makes both the Mosquito and the GSG-5. At best, it says that both were developed in sauerland or by a sauerlander. Either way, its much too ambiguous for me to infer. Anyone fluent in german?
