Optic for an AR-10
I’m looking for bang for my buck. Just something that’ll hold zero and let me hit a basketball sized target between 250-500 yards. I don’t want anything fancy or the latest top dollar scope, just something that works for occasional shooting. Recommendations? Thanks!

XTR II is a good optic.

Also check out the Burris RT6, and the Steiner P4Xi.

You could also look into the various 2.5-10x or 3-15x offerings.

Flexible but as I said I’m not going to break the bank for a name. Solid, reliable, no frills is what I’m looking for.

Nightforce SHV lineup is hard to beat. I plan on putting the 4-14x50 FFP on my Tikka soon.

To be honest, it’s akin to stating you want to buy a car and dinner afterwards. Without a little more guidance, recommendations might range from a Prius & quiche to an F150 & ribs.

When you state “scope” I don’t know if you want a LPV of 1-5x (-ish), or higher power such as 2-10x or 3-15x. LPV can be challenging at 300-500 yards if the shooter isn’t experienced using them. Therefore, the following are a few mid-powered options.

Nightforce SHV:
4-14x50 FFP $1,250
3-10x42 SFP $873

Vortex Viper PST 2:
2-10x32 FFP $949
3-15x44 FFP $999

Burris XTR II:
2-10x42 $764
3-15x50 $849

None of these scopes have frills, IMO. But then again I don’t feel a $4,000 Tangent Theta has frills, either.

Another vote for the Vortex Viper PST 2.

I am using a 1-6 ACSS on a LMT MWS and it works very well.
The glass is very adequate...to 600 yards.
The ranging stadia is excellent.

Good shooting.
