I usually watch Dirty Harry whenever I do anything gun related. Others have said and yeah, I'd recommend Tears of the Sun and Black Hawk Down. Although it's not a movie, I'd also suggest the History Channel documentary, The True Story of Black Hawk Down. Also, while not movies, I like to watch seasons 1, 2, 4 and 5 of 24 whenever I do something that requires some background noise.

My new gun ritual involves disassembling and cleaning it while watching the Simpsons episode "The Cartridge Family." The one where Homer gets a gun...

Last I night, I was watching SWAT and thought that would be good movie. Especially if you were building an M4.

As far as...

quote:
Building a weapon upon which my life may depend? No visual distractions at all, please. Background sound? Perhaps light classical or other instrumental music, or natural sounds such as the seashore, but without any effing seagulls, or a flowing stream, with birds singing.

...the whole point is to put in a movie you've already seen so that you aren't distracted. If you can't have a movie on in the background while you work, you really need to work on your concentration skills.

First thing that popped into my head was Apocalypse Now.
