"about us" from the website

http://www.osprey-optics.com/

these are available with opticsplanet and natchez shooter supply and the local gun shows. good prices.

has anyone used, seen, handled, or had/have a shooting buddy do the same? hands on they look nice but i have no idea of quality or durability.

story i was told from local gunshow vendor is that the company owner was a long time employee of Fuji and a big hunter. so he developed this scope line on the basis of offering a high quality, well built (like a topline Leupold) with excellent glass/Japan and materials from US but built in China. this way you can have the "same" high quality of the big boys but for the lower end cost. that was just one story and i have no basis of its truth or not.

good or bad, any hands on input would be appreciated.

thanks

They suck, maybe one step up from Barska. I have a 3x9 50 it won't hold zero on a .223, optics are crappy and eye relief is nil.

I was given one at the Shot Show 4 years ago by the owner of the company to "test". I was told the same story about the Japanese optics (Hakko) and the Chineese manufacturing plant, made to their (US) specs, etc.

I put it on an FN PBR in .308. It was OK, held zero, and performed reasonably well. One of the adjustment turrets fell off due to a miss-threaded set screw, but I was able to re-attach it. I finally gave it away to another SF member.

They were never able to establish themselves in the market, and are mostly sold through discounters, Sportsmansguide and gun shows.

Mine worked OK, but for a few bucks more you can get a Millett which, in my opinion is an excellent scope.
