I think I finally found the .308 rifle for me. I've had a Cetme(problem free one too!), M1a and now the FAL and after putting a few rounds through it, I'm thinking this one's a keeper. It's a 2001 Imbel build by the late Mark Powell. I traded my M1a for it and got some cash too. Eventually I will refinsh it. My first outing, with some SA at 100yds I averaged about 1.5" - 2" off a sand bag.

Love the FAL. Like the 7.62 Nato caliber rifles in general anyway. The FAL was popular and stayed in service around the world for years and years for a reason. I'll never get rid of mine. Btw, since you seem to have tried the other 7.62 rifles, fire a BM-59 if you get the chance. Very nice too.

I feel the same way about the FAL. I have found my MBR. I shoot my FAL's regularly in 3 gun shoots and you don't have to wonder if you hit the plate with a .308!

NIce FAL. Is that a Century receiver? If you want to improve the looks of the rifle, that the SAW stock, T48 hand guard off and replace them with stock parts. Watch your parts cound. You can relpace to more foreign parts with US parts. I usualy use the charging handle and receiver.

Have fun! I love my 4 fals!

It's a 2000 Imbel logo receiver. The guy I got it from had the stock furniture also but I'm not sure if I put the stock and forearm back on that I will have enough US parts. Right now I have the furniture, followers and bottom plates in the mags, piston, fire control group has usa on it. I may have more than enough to put the original furniture back on but I want to be sure. The saw grip I don't mind but the rest will need to change. I have a DSA rail cover coming, now that you mention it I should have also ordered a charging handle.

If you happen to like wood and want US parts you might try www.ironwooddesigns.com

I typically use these parts as I like to keep the original furniture.

Receiver, HTS, Charging handle, pistol grip, gas piston.

Since a receiver is not an option for you, use the floorplate and followers. Put a floor plate on one mag and a follower in the other mag. Each mag part counts as 1 US part. Or but some Thermold mags and you will get three parts. Or you can put a Penguin stock set on it and that will be the replacement for the SAW parts. But it never hurts to use as many US parts as possible.

Good luck!

Gotta love the FN. Even though I have 2 ARs, AK, and W. German HK91, my FNs are my favorite.

I have an original Belgium FN, with 21 inch barrel, and my go to FN is a DSA FN Congo, with 18" barrel, and light weight aluminum receiver.

Not tack drivers, but very reliable, excellent ergos and the world's best combat round.

The FAL is truly the free world's battle rifle! Enjoy yours!

My SAR-48 Bush Rifle (18" bbl) has always been 100% reliable and shoots plenty good with iron sights. Even so, I upgraded to an EOTech 512 sight. Just won (via the 220ST raffle) a 3x magnifier and am looking forward to seeing how well it works with that! (Trying hard not to smile too much. Smile)

I miss my SA SAR-48 that I sold off many moons ago. Frown I have been wanting to get another FAL ever since. It may be my pre-election rifle purchase (just in case).

Congrats! Nice FAL. My first FAL was an Imbel, and it was glorious.

Hey, who switched the pictures back? My prior comment doesn't make any sense now. Confused

I wondered if anybody else noticed that the FAL in the pics were backwards or mirrored as the ejection port on FALs are on the right side and charging handles are on the left.

I love my FAL too. Smile

I sold the rare left handed model for a huge profit. Razz

I felt silly so I fixed the pic.

Check the FAL files. Not only is there a lot of knowledge, there are a lot of vendors who can get you original look US furniture.

I really wish we could get real FALs in Kalifornia. I shot a friend's FAL that was pre ban and it was awesome. The ergonomics really jives with my body type.
