Hey guys!
I had a stroke last September and have finally gotten over this completely, now.

Anyway, Since I'd been "away " for so long, and haven't done any projects, I thought I'd ask this. I was thinking of doing a 550 style 556 conversion right before the stroke. I had acquired a PE90 forearm/bipod combo, and was preparing to find someone to turn down either a 550 profile barrel or (maybe) a DMR type for me.

I see COGS has a 550 profile barrel available, now.

Has anyone built up a gun in this manner. yet?
If so, are there any pics I could see?
Is the builder happy with it?

Sorry to be so inquisitive.. I've just been "out of it" for a looong time, and ready to get back "in it", now!

Welcome back!..and as far as the conversion goes, you may want to ask to be put on marcolmar's mailing list....they haven't sent anything out in a bit, but I am sure they are just getting things in order as they have a pretty solid track record with the 550 conversions and parts.

Thanx Bill!
As for SuperGirl,
I sent her a link to this thread.

I am ALMOST finished with an HK MSG90A2 clone that I need to Zero. She may go along for some pics, when I do THAT, then!

Keith,
Welcome back, I hadn't seen you around in a long time and was going to e-mail you. By chance do you have a set of those 550 receiver blocks you made a few years back that you are willing to part with? If not, you may strongly consider making some more as there is a demand for them again.

Thanks, and let me know, e-mail is in my profile.

I am in the process of getting a build completed

I bought a parts kit from Marcolmar about year ago. haha, my gunsmith has had it since Mid-December of 2008.

Good thing this has been a busy year for me because I am usually terrible at waiting for a finished weapon.

Last time I checked the rear sight was welded on the 556 receiver and the Swiss cross was getting engraved on top too.

Should be refinished and done by December 2009. I will post pic's when I get her back completed.

My trigger finger is itching like mad!!!

Thanx for the WB!
I WAS going to do another run of them, then I found THESE:

They are selling them for LESS than it cost me to make mine. The Design looks sound. I'd have to say this would be just as functional as mine!!

Bill,
Just got an email from SoooperGirl. She definitely wants to shoot the MSG90 and to take some pics.

Keith,
I looked at these at a gun show in Denver last Month. They look nice, but Mike from CO Gun Sales cautioned me that you would have to tape the inside area with tape to prevent the finish from getting scratched. They are made for the 556 receiver only, and you would have to enlarge the receiver block to allow for the forward scope rail dovetail on the Swiss receiver. So in short, I would prefer what you had made in the past. But your right, cost is the limiting factor there.
