I have a Century WASR-10 with the dreaded front sight cant. Does anyone know of a reputable gunsmith that specializes in fixing this issue? I live in central PA and would like to find one in this general if possible, but I'm open to suggestions anywhere in the lower 48. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I just recently got my WASR back from Meridian defense with a new barrel, receiver straightened, all new rivets, front trunion fixed and a bunch of other stuff. That gun had a lot of rounds (5k from me and not sure how many from previous owner) and its been used an abused pretty hard over the last 10 years. It was a relatively quick turn around (4 or 5 months) considering all the craziness this year. Based on their work I highly recommend, however I don't know if a canted front sight is worth sending an AK to a gunsmith personally. Will it still zero? Do you only shoot irons?

Meridian are probably the folks I'll be using to drill the gasport on my SBR SLR106UR since the guy who built a lot of my AKs in the past seems to have disappeared.

I used Meridian Ordnance for my AK work. Different Meridian than the two fellas above suggested.

^^^ I meant the same Meridian Black suggested.

Didn't realize there were two AK shops with almost the same name!

Another option to consider is Two Rivers Arms.

https://tworiversarms.com/

I had them SBR my 104UR and 107CR. They met the quoted timeline with quality work that was very fairly priced.

Yep, I can see them when I click on those two Flickr links.

But if you'll click on the Share arrow in the bottom right of the Flickr page for an image, then click BBCode, then copy/paste that entire text into a Sigforum reply, you can embed the picture directly into your forum post.

Like so:

Thank you Rogue. For OP, that's what the gun looks like now. Meridian defense offered for a full refinish but I opted to save time/money vice a new paint job.

if its just the sight cant, you can fix that yourself with a vice and some leverage and bout 30 seconds

You're going to feel
a little pressure...

If you do send it out for work, do yourself a favor and do what I did:
Have the safety cut for the bolt hold open and have it refinished in Birdsong Black-T. The standard finish is crap and the Black-T is beautiful and slick.

Luck,

Bruce

"The designer of the gun had clearly not been instructed to beat about the bush. 'Make it evil,' he'd been told. 'Make it totally clear that this gun has a right end and a wrong end. Make it totally clear to anyone standing at the wrong end that things are going badly for them. If that means sticking all sort of spikes and prongs and blackened bits all over it then so be it. This is not a gun for hanging over the fireplace or sticking in the umbrella stand, it is a gun for going out and making people miserable with." -Douglas Adams

The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all. -Mencken
