My wife, who is looking for a bipod for her Remmy 788 in 223 told me that Harris is stating that when they write that a bipod swivels, it does nor mean that you can pan the rifle but can only offset the legs for uneven terrain.
If this is so, is there anyone that makes a bipod for sniper like use that allows the shooter to swivel the rifle back and forth??
thanks, as always

I cannot find where that will work on a non railed rifle.
We were looking at Harris Bipods when maggie read what their definition of 'swivel' was.

Hey Hal... Yeah, I guess it would help if I read for what rifle, eh? No, that won't work (sorry about that).

The only bipod I use is the Harris with the swivel, notched legs and a Pod-Lok. I use this setup shooting from a bench and shooting prone and it works very well. I think a bipod that pans would be a real pain in the ass with a swivel. I am pretty sure I have an extra if you want try it out.

Best setup out there.

If you want a swivel type that allows the rifle to pan (left to right), get a Parker Hale or copy of it.

Harris is what I use. The legs both adjust separately for uneven ground. Models that swivel will turn although they tend to be not as stable.

What do you use for the metal spacer that fits between the bipod and the lever when you use this lever? I can make one in the machine shop unless you have a better solution.

Forget it, saw the "steel spacers" when I clicked the link.

isthatasiginyourpocket - Yup, it's like $1 extra or some like that. They come with proper spacer and all.

http://t-nuts.com/index.php?cPath=73

You can see the spacer. I order like 5 kits at a time.....they're cheap. Everyone who owns a swivel Harris should own one.

mrmn50 - You're very welcome. I'm glad someone actually listens. LOL Big Grin

Best BI-POD IMHO.... get urself a nice back pack w/ a couple of towells in it, cleanning supplies, ear plugs, cleaning solvent, rods for pistol and rifles what ever ur shooting etc....all the sh*t you need for a day at the range...then you take some of those towells and fold them really nice in squares then stack it on top of the back-pack high to the level that you are comfortable with shooting. BAM, best bi pod i ever had... i had a Harris but at times this worked way better. No shoulder pain, No problems finding the pocket etc...Use micro fiber towells these are smooth and grip nice on your bag and protects the rifle when the recoil happens...i use a North Face bag now, before it was a bag made by Blackhawk. Also its one less thing to carry/worry about when leaving the house/range and when using sandbags etc... Engage with no issues right left swivel, deploy haul ass, take cover... Cost effective too !!
