Hey all-

My neighbor has acquired a Aero Precision (DPMS pattern) AR 10 upper and lower set. He wants to do an extreme long-range build. For that, he wants a long barrel, 24" or longer.
I can't seem to find anything longer than 20". Any sources?

Since this will be a LR setup, he is aware that parts will not be cheap!

Thanks in advance.

Bruce

"The designer of the gun had clearly not been instructed to beat about the bush. 'Make it evil,' he'd been told. 'Make it totally clear that this gun has a right end and a wrong end. Make it totally clear to anyone standing at the wrong end that things are going badly for them. If that means sticking all sort of spikes and prongs and blackened bits all over it then so be it. This is not a gun for hanging over the fireplace or sticking in the umbrella stand, it is a gun for going out and making people miserable with." -Douglas Adams

He didn't look very hard. This isn't rocket science. Google "AR10 barrel" and options definitely exist with a few clicks of the mouse. Aero Precision, too.

In just a few seconds of clicking:
Fulton Armory
Craddock Precision
Criterion
Krieger

Have you checked Rainer Arms?
I thought I saw some there.

I would suggest looking at Krieger Barrels. They currently list several 26 inch barrels specific to the DPMS AR-10.

I've stopped counting.

I think the first part of that sentence doesn't make any sense so maybe I misunderstood it. It makes some sense to me that bleeding off a little gas to support semiauto operation could have a very mild effect on velocity, but that the location of the gas port negates totally the velocity increase of a longer barrel makes no sense to me.
