I bought a stainless Remington Model 7 in the late 90’s that was the worst shooting new rifle I’ve ever owned. It’d put 2 reasonably close and throw the next 2 or 3 inches somewhere else.
It sat in my safe for years until I got a wild hair and I started accumulating parts. I had it rebuilt with a nice slightly heavier than factory contour 20” barrel in .243. I went 2 tone with it. Boyd’s laminate stock with a Pachmayr decelerator to replace the crap Remington synthetic. Timney trigger. Cut to the chase this is his first year hunting with the rifle I had done for him and today it was the first deer he has taken with it.

Nice. Smile

I've taken a bunch of deer with a .243 that wasn't that cool. Lucky kid.

Very Cool! Funny I was just looking at my model 7 7mm-08 thinking about restocking it. I don't care for the Remington synthetic stock on mine either.

Very nice. I have a Model 7 243 that's in my top tier of favorites. I won a stock, so that's in place, I also put a Timney trigger in it.

That's awesome!

Good job and a nice buck, too.

243 is an awesome deer round. A couple of my biggest bucks have been done in by .243 Nosler Partitions. Congrats to your boy. Can't wait til mine are a little bigger and get can get behind my 243.
