I think you missed the point of my discussion. I am saying that the Pmag and CTR are the 2 biggest sellers that Magpul has, that is what is keeping them afloat. Just like the IPOD, sales of the IPOD are keeping apple afloat, you cannot offer Laptops starting at $1500 and desktops starting at $2000 and expect to stay in business without a continous money maker like the IPOD. Trust me, my weapons are adorned with Magpul, hell I paid $275 for a Proproduction FDE UBR directly from Magpul in January. I have replaced all my Tangodowns with MIADs and have CTR's on most of my guns and have a Black UBR in route as we speak. I am soo pro Magpul it is not even funny. I don't even own but 2 Aluminum mags, all of my mags are PMAGs (Orange, OD, FDE, Black). Hell if Magpul made Vert Grips I would buy them! I am waiting on a street date for their BUIS System. |

ITYM laptops starting at $1100 and desktops at $600 ($1200 if you don't count the Mini). And right now Apple's growth is in computers: 43% year-on-year revenue growth for the second quarter with 54% revenue growth (51% in units sold) in computers and only 8% revenue growth (1% in units) in iPods. Late last year Apple had about 17% of the laptop market. That's hardly a product line that needs to be supported by the iPod. That's not to say the iPod wasn't largely responsible for the change in Apple's fortunes over the past decade. ---------- The real hero is always a hero by mistake; he dreams of being an honest coward like everybody else. -- Umberto Eco |

I actually don't count any of the non-MacPro machines to be real computers, more like toys. The MacPro is a real machine, and they do start at the $2000+ price point. The Mini and the iMac's are great for kids and educational use, but not that useful as a work or entertainment computer. Apple owns what percentage of the MP3 player market? Over half I assume. What is their overall percentage in the PC realm (laptops and desktops), less than 20%, again an assumption. Could Apple survive w/o the iPod? No. Plain and simple. I supported over 400 G5's and MacPros at my last job, was a Platinum Apple tech for 4 years for one of the only Apple VAR's in my area, and am versed in all Mac OS'es from 6 to Tiger, so I am not some Pro-PC uninformed Apple hater. I prefer the PC platform over the Apple, and consider MAc's to be relegated to the realm of Publishing and casual users. |

Magpul does make a vertical grip, you have to assemble it yourself...
The Full MIAD comes with an insert that encloses the the front section all the way to the top of the grip; where the rear of the trigger guard would be. This section is meant to be used when replacing the standard A2 grip on ARMS #75 VFG. Billy

I dislike Apple computers, but this is a pretty silly statement. According to this article, dated 7/16/08, for the second quarter of 08 in the US market Dell is on top with 31.9%, HP is next with 25.3%, and Apple is third with about 8% (~1.35 million units). Obviously there are other computer manufacturers, and obviously they are mostly able to stay in business despite selling fewer machines than Apple. |

Certainly a testament to product loyalty. Hell if Magpul made Vert Grips I would buy them! I am waiting on a street date for their BUIS System.

|

Little off track, but a Magpul product question. I like the black backstrap on this OD grip. Can they be ordered like that, or is it something done for an advertising picture?

I suppose so, if you count me a casual user with my iMac I use for development with a large online wagering website. Mostly used for development work on the backend. Works far better than an Windows machine would ever work for me, with the exception of some testing. With this one machine, I can test a majority of the browsers in our test matrix which I cannot do on a Window or Linux box. ---------- The real hero is always a hero by mistake; he dreams of being an honest coward like everybody else. -- Umberto Eco |

Not aware they sell them that way. You'll probably need to by both. Or even better, buy an OD unit and you can have one of the black backstraps I didn't use. Every time I buy a MAID grip, I set it up the same way and I have a box full of leftovers. As long as its not the one I use, you can have it. That goes for any Sigforum member. Just email. 115 + 115 = 230 |

Got it. Don't worry about it though, just pass a favor along to someone else when you get the chance.
